Hard drive question

So I've decided to build a new computer this summer...probably a gaming computer...Already got the case and graphics card...buying components slowly, probably gonna get a Quad Core and see if DDR3 is reasonably priced by then but for now I think I might buy a Hard drive so I was wondering if this was a good one to get :

Not really looking for more than 250gb as that probably already will be too much...anythoughts or does it not really matter...I dont know if seagate is a good hard drive brand...thanks

The drive you linked to is an IDE drive. While there's nothing wrong with IDE, SATA is newer and better.

If you want 250gb, this is a much better hard drive for $5 more. Just one platter, runs very cool, quiet, and FAST.

Seagate is one of the best HDD makers around, along with Western Digital and maybe Hitachi and Samsung. I think those four are the biggest names in hard drives now.

If you're not building until this summer, you shouldn't buy a CPU now. They will come down in price as newer processors are brought to market.
Forget the DDR3 angle, buy the cheaper DDR2 NOW. It's not worth gambling on it getting cheaper this summer. Enjoy the glut as long as it lasts.
250GB may be far more than you need, but with larger drives you get newer/better designs and technology.
Get at least a new 500GB. The price difference is hardly anything.

DDR2 is SO CHEAP now, I wouldn't pass it up.
It's so cheap it can't go much lower.
