Hey guys,

I just got a mac pro (2x quad core 2.8GHz with 8800GT) and am in serious need to upgrade (since upgrades cost a fortune through apple)

I just ordered 4GB of FB-DIMM ram but i am still stuck with only a 320GB HDD

My question is twofold:
1. would it be better to get a 750GB HDD, or the 1TB HDD considering:
I'm not sure performance and reliability wise what would be best to get
I was looking at the Samsung F1 for both, but wasn't sure and am open to suggestions.

2. Which is the best performance/most reliable HDD at the 750GB and 1TB level?

I am mainly going to do video and picture editing, and I am also looking to install boot camp so I can play some games (crysis, anyone?)

Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Considering your hardware, you don't seem to be on a budget, so 1tb. Sooner or later everyone runs out of HD space, so better to get a little extra. Although price/performance wise the 750gb HD is ahead, not an option to buy 2x 750gb ?

Actually, my future in laws got it for me as a wedding gift... so for me, cost is a significant, but obviously spending more wouldn't be completely out of the question

But that was one consideration because for about $30 more, I can get 2x750 but then I would only be left with one HDD slot...
I guess one other option would be to get the 750 for now and hope 1TB HDD comes down in price by the time I start running out of space?

Yeah, that's a pretty good consideration. Why would you be bothered with only having 1 HD slot open btw ?

I guess its the same principle as deciding what size RAM to use. I know I will need to upgrade this thing sooner or later (pictures and movies take up too much space)...

But perhaps I should calm down and only upgrade as immediately necessary?
I guess unless I plan on using a RAID, I don't need to upgrade to the same size HDD...

One more thing, does anyone have any experience with the Samsung F1 drives? it seemed to get good reviews from tomshardware, but there were some bad reviews on it from newegg customers.... is this something I should be concerned about?
