My point is that the shimmering issue isn't fixed, and NV has successfully gotten the issue put on the back burner by having you and ChrisRay spread the word about fixes. The reason I don't think the issue will ever get fixed is because it's still there in the 78.03 drivers, but more importantly it's there in all the 8x.xx drivers I've tried out. I could be wrong, but this leads me to believe that the shimmer is not a priority to fix.

I'm not apologizing for nV, I'm just saying I don't think I was "used" by nV.

I doubt the shimmer issue is on the back burner for them, I have no doubt they're trying to totally fix it as doing so can only help their sales.

I was happy to bring news they were making efforts in that direction, but I doubt my post, or the nVNews reporter's, changed their driver teams work plan any.

What a jerk! "PC" at anandtech? How about more mature? I think that was the term he was looking for. He should try referring to black people by using the "N" term! They use it among themselves, so it must be ok to call them all that, right? I don't even think Canandians refer to themselves as Canucks, but I might be mistaken... It doesn't matter in america if you intend for it to be derogatory or not, it is how it is recieved. And if I were Canandian, I would be offended. Tough luck getting him to actually apologize though...

So according to Kyle Bennett, Anandtech is the premium hardware review site on the web !! Three cheers !!

Hell, I knew that all along, its a shame it took him this long to realize it. Kyle is the closest thing to the late Billy 'VoodooExtreme' Wilson that currently has a mainstream hardware site, and he does not mind beating the occasional dead horse, or ripping into suspect vendors when they cross him.

My post on the HardOCP forum:

I, as a Canadian wasn't horribly offended when he called them "Canuck" promises , I was a little puzzeled at first to whether or not I SHOULD be offended, but it didn't strike me as horribly defamitory. IMHO anyone that is offended by such a tiny statement needs to be slapped.
I don't think it was necessary, or even appropriate though.
I was totally gung hoe for that write-up about ATI's annoying paper launches up until that point. I was just really confused by the context he used the word in. Is he trying to say that "Canuck" promises are what, promises that aren't kept? Because in my interpretation of the English language, that's what it sounds like.

If ANYTHING, I'm kinda peeved at his total disregard for my countrymen, some who apparently WERE very upset.
In true e-penis fashion, he upped the anti by telling Canadian's who didn't like it to never come back again.
That's maturity.
Instead of simply fixing the problem with a simple "I shouldn't have said that, sorry" or even a totally un-noticable silent edit of the post, he spat on Canada.
It's also amazing to see the reaction in the forums, every American spitting venom at anyone who dares question the issue, and 90% of the posts being anti- the rest of the world, filled with American superiority propaganda.
It was nice to see the editor of the website not say a single thing after the forum whores started up with the whole Canada bashing.
and after the Phantom debacle, to think I respected the guy

and Kyle, to answer your question, I will be going to Anantech from now on. They might be PC, but it's better than being treated like a POS.

Kyles response:
Don't let the door hit you in the ass.

Ohhhh the maturity.
I'll be leaching all of my compy info from your site from now on, and if you guys make fun of Canadians, i'll guess I'll have to run my OWN damn hardware tests.

Ah, rise, you're right. However, if people take offense (and obvioulsy some have) then the slur shouldn't be used and should apologized for. It's not like Kyle used it in any sort of friendly or chummy manner...

agreed and as others have said, there just was no need for it. i really can't understand why he won't just admit it was a poor choice of words.

I don't see what the "PC" fuss is about, in reality there are just as many immature posters here(esp in Video) as at HardOCP or Rage3D for that matter. You all can think of yourselves as "higher than thou" but it's just not the case. There is some great information to be had there.

Something else about HardOCP - the forums there are moderated - unlike here.

You mean controlled by two young punks that will ban your ass if they don't like you.

And as for rage3d , when I sold my 9800Pro I told them to remove me from their userbase as I won't be coming back.
I like hardware but I don't like BS...

Dude, just look at your sig! "Of course, that's just my opinion. I could be wrong." I'd convert it to "diplomatic" and take it as a compliment.

Billy (RIP) was more funny than bitter and grandstanding, though, IIRC. (Still, Kyle isn't all sound and fury, as that Infinium Labs reporting and lawsuit showed. He's just ... louder than I prefer. )

Just to put all of ATI's paper launches in perspective, I think they had to because of previous statements (such as R520 would be launched late summer, etc.). They probably just needed to get this PR out there to hit some financial calendar dates. I'm not excusing it, just trying to explain it. I, too, would much prefer immediate availability, or availability simultaneous with launch, to avail. after launch. But I didn't think ATI's 9700P launch of avail. one month after launch was too bad. It's a question of follow-through, and obviously ATI's been lacking in that regard lately, prompting this spate of outbursts.

I don't think many of these ranters have ignored the attention Sander got with his R520 rant, though. Hits is hits, and not everyone disagreed with him (as I did).

I was on the same page with you. Apparently some people could not comprehend the logic behind Sander's motives and flamed me as much as they could.

Everyone knows that ATI has had big problems this year and made some major mistakes. But to kick someone when they're down like this just seems uncalled for. Maybe someone didn't get their R520 review cards from ATI?

Whats with your senseless ATI flag waving? Are you canadian or something?

I know "keepitred" is.. But what the hell is your excuse.

Its his site. He has a great reputation anyway, and people will continue to visit OCP.

The reason Kyle said that is because Canadians tend to ally themselves (fervently) with their companys.
You typically wont find many canadians supporting Nvidia.. but you'll find plenty of Americans supporting ATI. As a general rule.
Take a look sometime at who posts the hardline pro-ATI stuff, even in ATI's worst days.. see where they live. Its almost interesting.

Besides that, what are the canadians going to do to Kyle? Nuthin. At all. Just whine.. and hopefully just go away and leave him alone.

while "paper launches" certainly aren't the preferred method, i don't think that's specifically the problem here.

the problem with the "paper launches" is that ati kept inferring (and in some cases insisting) that such would not be the case. in essence, it was a FLAT OUT LIE and made the reveiw sites/reviewers feel like they were being manipulated to get the word out on a product which was, at least for a short time, vaporware, in order for ati to try and manipulate consumers into waiting, rather than buying from a competitor.

personally i think it's asinine of review sights to expect they are anything more than "tools". perhaps if the reviewers kept that in mind, we would see more objective reviews. at any rate, while i certainly can't stand how PR depts manipulate and spin things (they are rarely forthwright), they (reviewers) should know better than to think companies such as ati are their "friends".

if it wasn't to their benefits, do they really think these companies would supply them hardware, etc.? they don't do it to be nice, they do it to benefit themselves... hardware reviewers need to keep that in mind.

as for kyle, i've said for a long time he's a pompous a$$ who thinks far too highly of himself as he has once again show here...
