Whoever said that they should release a demo, you're absolutely right. Think about that one movie did to us when we first saw it? I about pissed my pants. It was amazing. I couldn't wait. Then nothing.


I'd love to see how the game looks. I'm not going to bitch out and say I don't care, because I do. I loved DN3. It was the best 1v1 multiplayer game ever. There has yet to be a multiplayer game that you can setup traps like you could in DN3d (I know Goldneye and all the gay sequals have mines and all.) Laser trip minds? Shrink ray? Freezer? Expander? Seriously, guys...there aren't better guns out there

I remember seeing a video for Max Pain in 96(or so) and being floored at how sweet it looked. Years passed, I totally forgot about Max Pain, then it came out. 3DRealms takes it's own sweet time, but DNF will be worth the wait.

Highly unlikely 3DRealms has boatloads of cash. They wont be running out anytime soon.

Yep anybody else would be fired. It's not like they were charged with creating a time machine or a $500 sports car or a 15 ghz cpu that costs $2 to make. It's just a video game. These guys are jackoffs and their project manager is licking his own nuts quite obviously.

3DRealms is funding this on their own. They are like id, they only have a publisher of their choosing, publish and distribute, there are no publisher set milestones, there are no publisher cash advances, etc. Their publisher can get pissed all it wants(they already have), but the fact of the matter is 3DRealms is paying for the development, so it doesnt matter. This isn't like Ion Storm - Dallas where the publisher was footing everything.

Yes it was stupid for them to show up at three years of E3, straight hyping the product, etc. However I would not be suprised if DNF ships by the end of 2004.

The development cost isnt as high as you might think it is. 3DRealms has 25 employees. Its one of the smallest development studios, along with id(21 people). Most studios have 50-80 people working on projects. Those whacky Japanese typically have 100+(Ive heard some have hit 200) people dev teams for each game.

I predict 3DRealms has spent around ~$10million on development at this point, that includes $1.5million in engine changes. If the game is good there shouldnt be a problem, selling the ~500,000 copies or so to break even make profit. This isnt like Ion Storm, where they would have to have sold some absurd amount of Diakatana copies just to break even. It was in the several million range, I believe it was like 3.1million to break even, or something like that. 3DRealms isnt blowing through millions a year like Ion was.

More people should use the when its done approach. Way to many games ship unplayable. However the only ones that can are those that pay out of their own pocket for development, which only a very tiny % of studios can.

wow...I just realized that back when I first played the Duke3D demo (when it came out before the game was released) 3D acceleration DIDN'T FVCKING EXIST!!! And WE HAVEN'T HAD A SINGLE 'DUKE' GAME SINCE (expansion packs, cheap 2D sidescrollers and console ports don't count for anything.)

Lets face it, by the time Duke shows up in a video game he'll look like Elvis before he died...fat, balding, high on queludes and sh*tting his pants...

Bumping a 7 year old thread to say nothing is exactly what the Mods look for in a ban.

Also, its amusing that 7 years ago people were already sick of waiting and thought 3D realms was poorly managed and would never come out or suck balls if it did.
TF2 on the other hand, did come out, and did kick ass.

What we really need is an update on the legal battle between them and Take 2.
