Since hard drive prices are going up and I am looking to build a desktop in the next few weeks, should I wait or just buy the drive right now? Or should I wait?

Eh, why would you wait ? Run over to BestBuy, and pick up 1TB for $65, or 2TB ('green') for $75.

Newegg prices are ridiculous right now!
Eh the drives they have are pretty bad lol.
Yea flat out stupid....
Whats wrong with the Seagate's they have?
Eh, no performance figures, old drive, newegg does not carry it any more. I would like to get the Sammy F3 since they are beast but damn the price has gone up

Its a freaking platter drive, do you really think the performance difference is so mind blowing? With SSD's being so fast, one could say all of the platter drives are old drives.
Actually you are right, I am going to go this weekend, hope they have some left.
You can always enter your zip code on the BB website and make sure they have them in your area.
Think I'll just wait a bit and see if they don't come back down. It's not urgent for me anyway.
Not recommended. Unless you are a vendor (in which your livelihood depends on sales) stocking up on HDDs is not a bright idea. Buy them as replacements only when you need them as this technology moves so fast that even six months from now the new batches will, in all likelihood, be improved (eg, fewer platters - same space because of higher densities, less power consumption, faster access, quieter, etc.).Woah. What the hell. I never heard of this... Newegg prices are crazy, but my local Microcenter still has the "normal" prices. Should I just buy a bunch to resell?
What specific models are you looking for that have went up 100% in a few weeks? The prices right now are terrible.
I was planning on buying two new 2TB drives, but everywhere I look, the price is double what is was just a few weeks ago.
