Hardest game you have ever played??

GRAW is about micro-managing your men, recon with the drone, and patience. Use the drone extensively, and it'll mark most of the enemy.

I love the game, and have probably finished it many times altogether because of playing through different difficulty levels. You get to really invest yourself in your character, and make it your virtual self.

Hardest game I ever played = the Sears SuperPong? when I was a little kid. I swear the game cheated. At least to my young mind it did.

Castlevania and Ghosts and Goblins are the two games that were the hardest for me too. The latter was so difficult that I never put much effort into beating that game, as I could never get past the second level. (and I rarely even made it that far). Frankenstein and igor always killed me in Castlevania. I could get to them with full life and no deaths, but never was I able to get by them for some reason.

Konami did make a lot of horrible NES games.
-Bayou Billy was a shitty Double Dragon rip off
-Metal Gear had a horribly broken continue system where you needed to type in the password every time you die (watch AVGN's video for more info)
-Solid Snake was the same garbage as Metal Gear
-TMNT was fun in the early parts of the game, but it's basically impossible
-Castlevania had the most frustrating controls in history

-Star Trek 25th Anniversary was explained by AVGN
-Skate or Die and Ski or Die sucked because the controls were so awkward
-Nightshade had the worst fighting in history. HVGN said this game is good, but he's wrong

It's hard to say what the hardest game is. I'll say Top Gun 2 for the NES is the hardest game. I can't even beat the first level in that game. Fire up your emulator and try it yourself.

I have beaten Top Gun and TMNT, so neither are impossible, just difficult. Both have the same issue where the hard part is that you need very fast reflexes and a very soft touch (really you just needed to really concentrate on what you were doing) in certain spots. With TMNT it is in the seaweed, and in Top Gun it was trying to land on the carriers. The rest of the game for both wasn't that difficult. Of course the other issue is that both of those sections are completely different from the rest of the game, which made them both much harder since you had to completely change your frame of mind when you got into those parts.

My cousin and I played that for like three solid days before we finally got through it. I remember one section were we had to do precisely timed barrel rolls to avoid an onslaught of crap flying toward us - that took hours and hours to finally figure out the correct time to make moves and get through. We were both cheering when we got past it.

Today - gotta be PvP on WoW as a warlock. Most melee notices you - you die promptly.

I think it was Tiger Heli for NES that we tried to beat.. come to find out after the game genie fix the game never ended.. it just kept scrolling.
Other than that Contra was the hardest game I have and ever will play.. and will never NEVER beat.

What you said. I got so far into it and all I kept getting was dead by stupid dogs or radiation. I uninstalled it and will never put it back on....

The only game I can remember that was insane was Might and Magic 2(I think it was number 2) It was a dos game. You could barely survive any battles at all. And when you do you would make your characters rest to restore life.. Well they age when they rest.. Just to get out of the first area my characters where always dieing of old age at the end.

Someone said Homeworld <3 it might be hard at first, but get good at multiplayer and the single player campaign is a joke. 3 fighters to a formation, in claw or X. Heavy 'vette walls with support frigates. Hell you don't even need capital ships, battleball with scouts will destroy a super capital just as quick, heh.

My friends all brag about Battletoads (I haven't tried it yet), but the hardest I've ever played is Ghosts and Goblins for NES. Those 2 games are usually listed as the hardest NES games. I tried beating G'n'G with an emulator, it was still grueling, and I gave up once I realized that I missed a single item in world 5 or so and the game told me to start over (ala Bubble Bobble).

TMNT and Solar Jetman (NES) plagued my childhood but were both beatable once I used an emulator.

i play the GRAW2 co-op with a friend and it is very hard in some spots. what really sucks is that if we both die, we have to start at the very beginning of the level. So even if we get killed by the last enemy on the map while entering the extraction chopper - start over!

There were a couple of places in both of those games that I got stuck on for hours until I got to the next save location. Very frustrating, but great games.

I would have to say NES Adams family: Uncle fester's quest. Perhaps i was just too young, but this game springs to mind every time someone mentions a hard game.
