Hardware failure in prime 95

I am overclocking my P4 1.6a and using prime 95 to test for stability. After a few minutes, Prime 95 stops saying there was a harware failure detected. Would this be a good time to turn up the voltage on the CPU? I am running at 138 fsb (2208 MHz). The highest temperature i have seen is 44c. The motherboard is an ASUS P4B266-C

I would raise the vcore, or lower the fsb. Now I passed the 24-hr prime95 test. But the loaded temp was 53C :Q

CPU vcore 1.6V, poor case, poor case fan, poor P/S (loaded temp 59C).

@ 2200 MHZ your temperatures shouldnt be up that high. load would be high 30s or so.
Try to raise your voltage and test over and over again. Prime95 is a harsh test. heh it breaks my heart sometimes when i think i am all good with stability at a high rate. but it bombs out in the first few minutes of prime95. blah.

You seem to have really decent temperatures Dino, but you are the exception to the rule (BTW nice overclock, you have an exceptional chip). Mid-40's seem to be the norm and low 50's as soon as you start upping the vcore very much, especially with the Retail HSF.

Skawttey, if you haven't tried bumping the vcore, it should help you to stabilize. I would also set it to Turbo1 and maybe up my DDR voltage a bit.

I upped the voltage a little and now it seems stable.

About the temperatures, i also thought they were a little high, especially with an alpha and a panaflo H1A. Could the motherboard be reporting the temperature wrong? The temps have not gone up at all with the voltage increase.

Dino your wrong @ 138fsb and temp at 44c under load is good , to even stay this low under load is exceptional, Skawttey the temps should go up when you increase cpu voltage try mbm and see if the temps correspond with asus probe temps. Skawttey if those temps are right they are very acceptable and nothing to worry about at all.:

When i load MBM5, the temps are as follows:
sensor 1- 33
sensor 2- 35
sensor 3- -1

Does anyone know what these sensors are on this board such as CPU and MOBO temps?

Sensor 2 is the CPU, Sensor 1 is the system temp. Your only seeing two degrees above your system temp at idle (assuming thats idle). That is good. To lower your system temp you need better case cooling and keeping it cooler in your room helps too.

(BTW, a fan blowing on you will cool you down because of sweat (evaporative cooling), but won't help your system temps...... )

Just a friendly reminder, Here lists those sensors on supported boards (at the Board Info section on the left frame of the page).
