hardware key for winamp 2.5??

yeah i still use winamp 2.5. best mp3 player ever! i dont need to watch vid. i dont need a database management of my music. i just want to simply play my mp3.

anyway, is there a software/hardware solution on how to change the song? next track, previous, stop, pause???
off course i can jump back to winamp and change next by hitting "B" it would be nice if i can change while in firefox or Word.

I still use WinAmp 2.8 for my mp3's. I use an old Packard Bell serial remote control to control volume, tracks, etc.

I use WinLirc so that my computer can recognize and map the buttons on the remote. Then I have WinAmp use the gen_ir plugin (found on the WinLirc page, search for WinAmp) to customize button functions for volume control, FF, REW, Play, etc.

It works well for me. If you have a remote control or game controller you can always use a general purpose plugin for WinAmp to define the button presses for custom functions.

I haven't tried this plugin but my search turned up this Multimedia Keyboard Plugin that allows mapping of multimedia buttons on keyboards. It might allow you to use seldom used keys like Pause, scroll lock, or the numberpad. It says it's compatible with WinAmp 2.x. So you might want to give it a try.
