Yes there is.
The "RP" indicates that the gender is opposite of the "normal" connector.
The Feds request/require/strongly suggest that an atypical connector be used on equipment operating in the non-licensed band to reduce the ability of the masses to freestyle on their equipment (limits the use of pigtails, amps & such) ... hence, the RP-TNC and RP-SMA.
