Wow, great price. Nice OP.

Anyone know if there are any Dell coupons that work with this?

$130 - $30 = $100.

If you want to get technical (which you do..) a rebate would indicate -

so it would *actually* be

original price-(-rebate)=actual price

which means $130 - (-$30 rebate)

== $130 + $30 rebate

But the rebate value isn't -$30 it's +$30. If it was -$30, then it would mean you owe them $30

but the rebate decreases the paid cost of the item!

Just an FYI, the $30 rebate states:

The product must also be purchased with a home electronics device of $100 or more within the last 6 weeks and proof of receipt is required.

Hmmmmmmmmm..........I was going to get this until I read that. It's still tempting.

There's also the Harmony 550 onsale 25% off....or you can find a code for 15% more off that price +10$ paypal code and it comes out to 69$+tax and free shipping....no rebates (and 100$ home electronics purchase).

I think the 550 is similar to the xbox 360 harmony remote - which i didn't like. it had lots of 'rubbery' buttons - the biggest issue is that a couple of them was one long button, and the left and right 'side' selected different things - pretty annoying.

the 628 or whatever imo are better than the 550, but the 880 is worth $130 if you're already going to spend ~80 on something else.

Hi everyone, first post here and I have to say thanks!

This is a great price for the remote, even without the rebate. Speaking of the rebate, how's everyone getting around that requirement for an additional purchase?

Also, if it's ok to ask, what's the deal with the paypal $10 code? Can someone PM me if it's not ok to ask publicly?

EDIT: Nevermind about the paypal code, I found it. If anyone knows about the requirement about the prior electronics purchase, let me know. Are most of you just writing it off?

This is not a hot deal on this remote but a deal nevertheless. A few months back it was at $80 from dell w/ rebate.

I have this remote, I got it for my dad when he got his new plasma setup. W/O remote it would take 4 remotes and one phone call to me to get it on or off. W/ remote my dad AND my mom AND EVEN MY GIRLFRIEND AND SISTER can work the setup. TRUST ME if you are the type of person who keeps getting Q's on how to turn stuff on or change between the DVD - TIVO - HDTV then this remote is worth every penny.

My only complaint is the lack of rubbery buttons as I initially found it hard to push the keys I needed to. BUT there are strategicly placed dimples (like on your QWERTY F and J Keys) that allow me to do everything after a little practice.

Worth a lot more than $100 for my mental sanity.

[edit] I know this remote WELL so ask me any questions you might have.

I'm trying to decide between this and the Harmony 360, which I can get for $80 locally. I saw an above post where the user didn't care for the 360 version.

Can you tell me how well the speed is for each button pressed? Meaning is the delay a problem? I have read a few remarks by others stating that the delay, even when set to the minimum, was still too long. Your thoughts?

Evan,
Is this remote a lot better than the other Harmony remotes? I thought that I saw a deal for a Harmony 628 for $45 recently.

The major differentiator between the 360 version and this one is the formfactor. For 880 think VERRY simmilar to TIVO. For the 360 one think std remote. For both 360 and 628 think more ruberized buttons.

Delay is customizable. I have not customized it. The only place where i find delay to be an issue is when doing the ON / OFF Macro's. I prefer the delay to make sure that say reciever is ON before the remote sends message to reciever to change to VIDEO 2. However, the only problem we seem to have is when my dad hits say "Watch Dad's TIVO / Ch16) and he does not keep the remote pointed at the system long enough for the TV to go ON, the Reciever to go on, the Reciever to go to Video 2, the A/V switch to go ON, the A/V switch to go to Input 2 and the tivo to go to the TIVO menu. BUT should that happen he simply hits the "help" key and it takes him through a YES NO process that fixes the problem in <20sec.

RE: Harmony 628. I have not used the 628. I do not believe it does Macros. It does not have the LCD color / customizable screen the 880. It does not have the rechargable batery / base station. It the difference is $20 it would not require any thought; go with the 880.

I have not personally had an issue with speed that couldn't be fixed. At first the chan up/down and volume up/down delay was too long, but I changed it and it works fine. go to best buy and play with the 360 remote.. I wish I did - I hate those freaking see-saw buttons

Evan:
the trick with your dad is to not set delays - instead set to something like:
tv: on
receiver: on
av switch: on
tv: whatever input
receiver: whatever input
av switch: whatever input

this way you aren't doing:
tv: on, plus 3 sec delay for tv to turn on
tv: whatever input
av switch: on
av switch: whatever input
receiver: on, plus 3 sec delay for receiver to turn on
receiver: whatever input

I went ahead and purchased one as well. Sure, it's not $80, but I'd still argue that it's still a decent price for this remote.

Chese, I'd think that your amp purchase would qualify. What I'm wondering is what everyone else is doing? Buying something and then returning it?!

I have the same question. The rebate says the remote has to be purchased at Dell, but it doesn't say where the other piece has to be purchased.

I just bought a TV a couple days ago from Overstock, so I am assuming it works as well.
