Wow...Renolds always seemed like a nice enough guy to me. I hope it isn't sexual harrassment.

Now it's just Kruk and Ravech.

I saw some rumors that he was dissenting with management about the latest report about the Yankees Texas game. He didn't like how ESPN wanted to overanalyze A-Rod. From a Yankees fan's persepective, I would respect that a lot, if true.

It would seem this is more plausible. They have Steve Phillips on their staff that guy had a sexual harassment filed against him and was settled.

I'm certainly not a Yankees fan but I think the obession ESPN has with Arod does get annoying. there are plenty of other stories they can cover in baseball. So the guy is in a funk, it happens to everyone. But because he gets 25 mil a year its magnified. Seriously the yankees should just trade him.

I don't know where he would fit with the As but I'd take him. He'll get out of it and go back putting up consistent numbers.

FYI, yanks only pay AROD $15 mil a year. he's a bargain since the Rangers pay the rest. I think he's the 4th highest paid yankee.

Let it play out and see what happens. ESPN has not said he was fired - they only said he wasn't working there anymore. There's NO reason to imply that he was involved in sexual harrassment. He could have very well been fired, but lets not just run around like little girls and spread rumors. Regardless of where you "heard" or read it (more likely).
well if you'd like me to forward the text message from my friend interning there, then i probably would, but i don't really care if you believe where I got this information from. There is a reason to imply that he did something pretty big, considering what he meant to a lot of people both at ESPN and to the baseball community. You don't fire Harold Reynolds unless you have a damn good reason. As for running around like little girls spreading rumors; well i guess we shouldn't, that's the media's job.

So the owner is paid money from the ranger's bankroll?? That makes absolutely no sense.

Reynolds gets axed by ESPN
BY NEIL BEST
Newsday Staff Writer

July 26, 2006

Harold Reynolds, one of ESPN's most visible analysts and a longtime panelist on "Baseball Tonight," has left the network in the wake of one or more incidents of sexual harassment.

An ESPN spokeswoman yesterday confirmed Reynolds' departure but repeatedly declined to provide a reason for it.

Three people who work at ESPN and were familiar with the case said the cause was a pattern of sexual harassment, apparently culminating in a recent incident involving one of the network's young production assistants.

Reynolds, a major-leaguer for 12 seasons before joining ESPN in 1996, did not appear on "Baseball Tonight" on Monday after having worked the Sunday show, during which he and fellow analyst Steve Phillips suggested the Yankees trade Alex Rodriguez.

Harassment charges are nothing new at ESPN, which operates out of a sprawling "campus" in relatively isolated Bristol, Conn., and employs many production assistants in their early 20s. The network has an extensive program of education and sensitivity regarding gender issues and an elaborate system for pursuing claims of sexual harassment.

Keith Olbermann of MSNBC, a former ESPN host, told The New York Observer in 2004 he had testified in "three or four major cases at ESPN."

Among the prominent ESPN personalities accused of improper behavior in the past is Mike Tirico, who will debut as the play-by-play man for "Monday Night Football" in the coming season. He was suspended by ESPN in 1992 for what were reported at the time to be allegations of sexual harassment. Another host, Jason Jackson, was fired in 2002, reportedly for harassment.

In addition to "Baseball Tonight" Reynolds, 45, who is married and has an infant daughter, worked as a game analyst for the Little League World Series and College World Series.

Reynolds was very popular personally among ESPN staffers, many of whom were shocked by his dismissal.

Dude that freaking sucks. Harold was a very knowledgable guy on the game and I enjoyed listening to his analysis.

I can't believe this. He had some of the best insights in baseball... it was interesting to hear, unlike the football analysts who have no clue.

ugh...this means more Steve Phillips??!! No Reynolds and of course Gammons is still not ready to come back so that means more Phillips and maybe more of the AWFUL tandem of Orestes Destrade and Tino Martinez. barf

Seems to me his friend was right on why Reynolds got fired.

Hmmm... police find coke in Michael Irvin's car and he's back on air the next day

I hate to think how serious these sexual harrassment charges could be to warrant such a response by ESPN
I am thinking, and the article mentions this, that it is a big problem and they want to send a message?

You apparently missed the point of my statement. Let me bold if for the illiterate.

"He could have very well been fired, but lets not just run around like little girls and spread rumors."

Anyways, It's a shame really. He seemed like a nice guy. The problem is ESPN is a huge guys club and apparently a lot of guys don't recognize it's a job and rules apply.

You seem to be missing the point as well, but i'm not going to stoop to your level and start calling people illiterate.

You think I wanted Reynolds to be fired? I grew up watching him on a nightly basis. If I read some random crap on the internet then there was no way in hell I would post something like this. So in my own mind, I wasn't running around spreading little girls rumors, this is what was coming out of ESPN's own headquarters, a point that seems to be lost on you. But instead you start calling people illiterate and accusing people of lying.

you misinterpreted that. He meant as a result of an old GM and idiotic owner, the 2 highest paid people on the Rangers payroll are A-rod and presumably another player, neither whom actually plays for the Rangers anymore.

Yes I know the Yankes only pay around 15 mil a year. still he is a guy that is getting 25 mil a year to play. In the eyes of fans and analyst at 25 million dollars you better be putting up great numbers. there was already talk of poor production for a 25 million dollar man when he was at texas. people expected more.

So let me get this straight. Harold Reynolds gets fired for wanting to talk about something other than the Yankees and Red Sox?

So it's ok to do coke and be a drug addict, but it's not ok if you give a woman a hug.
