He's survived a nuclear bomb, being trapped in carbonite, he helped destroy the Death Star and defeat the Nazis.

How can he not be my hero?

I'll let you in on a little secret. He's an actor. That's all make believe.

Harrison Ford... nah... Henry Ford, yeah ok.

Interesting

He just off and should have had a lot of fuel.

Didn't look look like the folks on the ground were concerned about the fuel. That means it didn't leak or was there was was none to leak and that means ops!...

Those planes were built to take machine gun fire. Should have a self sealing tank on top of some type of armor. From the markings on the ground, he didn't hit too hard. I wouldn't expect there to be any issues with fuel. Those things were built right.

Harrison Ford - Political views

Like his parents, Ford is a lifelong Democrat, and a close friend of former President Bill Clinton.

On September 7, 1995, Ford testified before the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee in support of the Dalai Lama and an independent Tibet. In 2008, he narrated the documentary Dalai Lama Renaissance.

In 2003, he publicly condemned the Iraq War and called for "regime change" in the United States. He also criticized Hollywood for making violent movies, and called for more gun control in the United States.

If Obama had built the Death Star when petitioned he could have been my hero

Notice the difference between that article and ones posted by most media outlets that don't know what they're talking about and seem to think planes just fall out of the sky uncontrollably.

Unfortunately this may end up being a bigger issue in the Santa Monica area because that airport is already under attack due to the land being so valuable. One side will take the planes are dangerous and could fall on you at any minute approach, the other will explain he put that plane on the golf course and not in someones bedroom because you fly the plane all the way to the ground - working engine or not.

Supposedly he was flying from the back seat.
That may have lessened the impact he suffered and saved his life.
Myself, I'd just be happy being famous, being rich, and making movies.
Or in John Denver's case, being famous, rich, and singing about smokin pot.
Those devil take care people... Go figure...

I'm not much of an optimist, but IMO 'injured in a plane crash' = 'had a pretty good day,' really. He's a lucky and/or skilled bastard.

Description of the crash sure is weird...they just say 'he clipped some trees,' like it's normal for planes to be flying at an altitude where there are trees...did he lose his engine or something that otherwise forced a crash landing? Looks like he did a good job of putting it down...I mean, that kinda goes back to the optimism thing...if you don't hit anything, don't tip a wing down and roll/cartwheel, generally keep the plane intact...solid landing, in my book....

His engine died shortly after take-off, when this happens you have to scan the area around you and knowing your planes glide ratio determine where you have a shot at attempting a forced landing and oh, you have to do these observations/calculations in about 15 seconds. The fact that he "clipped some trees" is kinda irrelevant, the golf course probably presented the only possible spot to attempt a landing. This is why Captain Sully was/is/always will be a hero for guiding his crippled Airbus 320 into the Hudson following the loss of thrust from both engines after geese impacts took them both out. Some pilots in simulators were able to make it back to LaGuardia but just barely. Had Sully chosen that action and encountered even a tiny headwind his jet would have disintegrated into a fireball short of the runway, even a ditching is a way better ending then that so he uttered those famous words to the tower, "We'll be in the Hudson".
