this was his fault the others were not. and i dont count the helicopter incident he was a student.

He landed on a taxiway with a 737 on it.

This was at John Wayne, where there are exactly 2 runways.

I find it hard to believe he landed on the Taxiway I looked at. The runways are clearly marked 20L and 20R and the approach area is so different then the taxiway, Also there are lines dashed white lines down middle of the runways but of course not on the taxiway, and the taxiway is very narrow and close to the terminal.

Ford has logged thousands of hours flying and probably knows the area airports well. Could be the 737s pilot or a controller error. Or Poor Mr Ford is losing it.

Dude is cool but seriously, gotta give up the heavy machinery. Go buy a farm and buy some tractors, or buy a race track and do it there.

The most important question here is, what is the par level of that course? Maybe he can just take a mulligan and still manage to get a par, but he's definitely no eagle.

What's that gif of that dude in the cadilac that smiles, then takes off, and Burt or some other meme is sitting in the back seat ofthe car?

We need that here with Indiana Jones buzzing a 747 on the tarmac, with a shit-eating grin and a wavy scarf bobble head as he flies by.

seriously. I think this is what it boils down to. Also had a rough year, ya know.

Relax, Indy, just chill and be awesome...but if you gotta go out spectacularly in an aircraft, please do it on a more remote mountainside (away from innocent people), and perferrably while fighting some giant shirtless Arab man, astride the surface of some Nazi Flying Wing.

Not because you need new specs or less plaque swallowing your neurons.

I wonder if he was sober. They should have dragged him out of the plane and tested him.

That taxiway was probably as big as the runway at a general aviation airport.

Is there even a minimum age before you can fly a plane?

There is no maximum age for acquiring a private pilot certificate. Once someone gets this certificate, they may exercise the privileges of that certificate as long as they continue to get a medical certificate and a biannual flight review.

Take a look for yourself as I stated in my earlier post the terminal side of the runways the taxiway is very narrow. Looks like the narrow one is used for small planes and the tarmac is used for the 737s and the like. Unless he landed on the Tarmac lol.

John Wayne Airport Google maps

Well shit this just in it appears he did land on the tarmac.

"Minimum"

Lol yea Just noticed that well he can google it. Think I just assumed it was max since the conversation here was he was told old to fly but my brain read it wrong. Pretty cool though. Or scarry...

Am I eligible for a student pilot certificate?
You are eligible if:

  • You are at least 16 years old. If you plan to pilot a glider or balloon, you must be at least 14 years old.
  • You can read, speak, and understand English

There technically is no maximum age - once a pilot, always a pilot. There are a variety of requirements that have to be met though as already mentioned. You'd be surprised how many old pilots there are. But in the aviation world we have a saying - there are old pilots, and there are bold pilots, but there are no old bold pilots.

Lol you can operate a glider before you can operate a car. That's awesome. Though in a glider and the type of situations you'd be flying one you're more likely to harm yourself than others.

Getting any kind of pilot license is stupidly expensive though so most people are probably doing that later in life if it's for pleasure and not career.

I wonder if he doesn't bother to review the latest charts because it's his home area.
