I went to Compusa today and, not surprisingly Harry Potter DVD was out of stock, not to mention the free mouse pad! So I decided to go to the nearby bestbuy and have them pricematch it with Compusa, with the ad... They pricematched it to "$9.97 with 10% off" as it says on the receipt and it came to $8.97 + tax! (Though they took my ad)

This shouldn't be hard if you have the ad, so try it yourself, and I'm sure bestbuy isn't the only place with 110% pricematch. Circuit City and others too, but I trust bestbuy most and the people there are nicer!

My local Best Buy never PMed if an item it is not in stock at CC or CompUSA; they call every time.

No crap, the only place I had any luck was at Walmart and that took 15 minutes after the dimwits called 2 different managers--hardly worth the $5

In Minnesota, the 10% off is 10% off the difference between the two stores. So if it was $10 at Compusa:

16.00 (Circuit City) - $10(Compusa) = $6

10% of $6 = 60 cents

So total cost would be $10 - .60 = $9.40 + Tax

Is this just a Minnesota thing or does Circuit City actually give off 10% of the whole competitor's price?

that is their general policy, though your luck will vary from store to store

I got this to work by buying the DVD first and then Price Matching my recipt. Although they may have a policy against PM with purchases. They have a 30 Day price guarentee that states that they will PM and add a 10% discount if a competitor advertises for less. It seems to be easier to PM with a competitor after you have already paid the Best Buy price. If it doesn't work, then return it for a full refund on the spot and try again if CompUSA gets more by Wed.

I have had much better luck if I just take the item and the ad to the register. They usualy so an exact price match without calling the store. Once in a while I'm asked to go to the Customer Service counter, and they usualy call for item availability!

I was able to get the Harry Potter today for $9.97 and they didn't even look at the ad... Folks must've been doing this all day long!

Picked up a copy of HP DVD and a music cd.

I forgot my compusa ad, but decided at the last second to ask if they price matched the CUSA price.

The cashier asked some dude, and the guy said yes. (I could hear him whisper that they only match for people who ask for it).

I walked out paying 9.99 for the HP DVD.

I could see another 3-4 people in the different lines getting ready to price match the DVD also.

I went to Circuit City to get the 110% pricematch for this. The woman at the counter said that I was the 3rd person and that they wouldnt match it as it stated limited quantities. I told her, yes, 1 per person, stock on hand. I then asked her to write down her name, store number and a statement saying she would not pricematch it. She called a manager higher than her (guess they're all managers theses days) and he gave the ok. Just act nice, be patient, and stay cool. Took less than 4 minutes for me

BTW - Walmarts here didnt have the widescreen edition...They were my backup if CC failed

I got CC to PM a gameboy advance lastweek to CompUsa's 59.99 price so I got the 110% difference from their 69.99. All I need now is a backlight kit, so I dont go blind

Just like the book but in motion picture! Can't wait til the other 3 come out... btw anyone know anything about the 5th and 6th books? I've been hearing rumors and release dates, but never do see them...

I had heard the BB just dropped the price to 10 bucks (must be trying to avoid paying out the 10%). My girlfriend bought it this morning but won't tell me how much she paid as it was my birthday present.

Last Day. Went to BlockBuster Video. They have a sign for Lowest Price Guarantee. I pulled out my trusty CompUSA add and said, "Match this!" With much hesitation they sold me two and sold the next customer in line one for 9.99 each. Good luck!

I tried PM'ing over at my local CC (Long Beach, CA), but the idiot manager wouldn't do it. He pulled the old "Well, I know the CompUSA (right next door) is out of stock, so we can't PM..." excuse. What a load of crap. I asked where in the CC PM guarantee it says it must be in stock and he read the part about "...if a local store is stocking the same item..." and said he interpreted that as meaning it had to be in-stock. Since when do they allow CC mgrs to interprate ANYTHING? I didn't think they had the brains to pull something like that off.

Can you tell I'm disgruntled?? :|

Well the main thing is that it's in the theatrical OAR (Original Aspect Ratio), though there has been some debate about Potter since it was shot in Super 35 and the fullscreen transfer is a little more favorable for it. Feature-wise it's identical I believe.

Good find Marril999.
For those having trouble PMimg to CompUSA, the Bayarea Fry's (and probably all Fry's) has HP for 14.99 through at least tomorrow (5-30). It probably will stay on sale through next Tuesday.
The reason I am saying this is when a major release like Harry Potter comes out, (always for sale on a Tuesday), Fry's will put it on sale through that Thursday. Many times when the Friday ad comes out, it will remain at that price through the following Tuesday.

The two I got is the full frame because CC near my house doesn't carry the widescreen edition since it's release.

Thanks

Target sells this for 15.99$, comes with 3$ off of a 12 pack of coke ($3.79 + 0.60$ deposit), plus they pm the compusa deal (no mouse). So for a buck more than the 9.97 price you get the movie and a 12-pack.
