There are 6 out so far, and the author is at the point where she is starting to drop hints about what is happening in the 7th (and final) book. Now is a good time to start reading them... by the time you finish from the first to the sixth book, the last one should be pretty close to release.

the first three movies were good. i dont know why, but i really really really did not like the 4th movie. i just now saw the trailer/teaser for the 5th movie and it doesnt look too good either

same with the books, the first 3 were good. the 4th book was okay. the 5th book was really weird, and the 6th was alright. hopefully the 7th will be a good conclusion.

How do you not know already the atomic mass of the sun? Or the exact number of bones in the human body? Stop being elitist a$$holes and spoiling books for people. You should be welcoming them to the series. They watched the movie and are intrigued to read/learn more about the HP universe. You a$$holes are getting your rocks off by trying to spoil major events in the series before they even get to them, which can change the entire way the first few books are interpreted. I am not an elitist at all. I'm glad to see any adult at all get into the series, be it by movie, book, or even magazine. I am enough of a fan though to recommend to anyone that has enjoyed their first taste from a movie to read the other books before seeing the respective movies. As I said before, there are hours of plot that just can't be shown in the movies because of the time constraints. Read the book first (library if you have to, you can finish them in 2 days). After you read the books, just watch the movies as they are: glimpses of what the book would have been if it was funded.

They are pretty easy reading. On par with Dragonlance, but a much better story. Not like LotR. Grab the books and toss them into your bathroom. Read a chapter each time you're sitting down.
