Are you a Harry Potter fan?

I think I am. I've just watched the 1st 3 movies (from Netflix since i never saw them before) and Goblet of Fire is scheduled to arrive tomorrow and I really like them.

I think I'll have to buy the books next.

Jeez, you are seeing the Movies first?? The books are SOOO much better. The same goes for Lord Of The Rings.

Goblet Of Fire is IMO the best of the Harry Potter movies so far though; so you should enjoy it.

yeah, i never bought into the harry potter craze. probably because i'm a Discworld fan and it seems to be a slight ripoff or competitor of that.

I've read all the books and have enjoyed them, the movies are alright but suck when compared to the books IMO.

i just watched Goblet of Fire.
I didn't like that one as much as the others. too much teen angst between the characters.

one thing i don't quite understand is that its their 4th year there and they still don't know crap about magic. they seem to always use the same spells over and over and over.

the other thing is that in Sorcer's Stone, its implied that Harry is rich, because his parents left him all that money in the bank. but in later movies, its like he's poor or doesn't use the money.

still pretty good overall.

I love the books and the movies both. Of course the books are way better than the movies. I agree with chuckywang, No HP fan dosen't read the books. GOF is the best book (and movie) IMO.

The movies are crap. After the first one, they started dropping more and more of what happened in the books to keep their movies at the 2h mark. It pains me to even think about how much they have to drop from Order of the Phoenix or Half-Blood Prince just to keep it in their required timeframe. Like LotR, these books really should be moving to the 3+ hour mark (or 2-part movies), or do what LotR did and release the super edition DVD with 10 hours of movie for each book.

They dropped at least half of the book for Prisoner of Azkaban. Less for the first two books, but #3 and 4 are where J.K. Rowling really started going into massive stories.

Read the books, the series is actually a lot better than you'd think.

Do yourself a favor and read the books first for the movies you haven't seen yet. Well, movie, since there's only one you haven't seen that's been released. There's a whole level of stuff that happens in the movies that you won't even pick up on unless you've read the book.

They are pretty easy reading. On par with Dragonlance, but a much better story. Not like LotR. Grab the books and toss them into your bathroom. Read a chapter each time you're sitting down.
