I didn't read anything in this thread so this might have already been answered.

Anyone want to explain how Neville ended up with the Gryffindor sword? Unless I missed something I thought the goblin had it after they robbed the bank.

I'm also kind of surprised J.K Rowling didn't tell us if Harry's aunt and uncle lived or not after they left the house. Is it because Harry never really cared about them a whole lot anyways?

Also did Ron, Hermione, and Harry go back to Hogwarts to finish their last year of school?

Google: harry potter "sorting hat" sword

It's just something the hat likes to do now and then. We all have hobbies.

Good question. That plot twist was completely unexplained and surprising!

Nice twist, and I was actually sad after he died.

He was always one of my favorite characters, having Alan Rickman play him in the movies helped that too. Everyone always thought Snape was the bad guy, especially after the 6th book, but I knew there was more to the story and this last book proved it.

it does follow suit with the 2nd book where Harry pulls it out of the hat in the very same way - it isn't like it was in the hat all along, Harry and Neville had to sort of "summon" it...

Harry.
Nagini.
Voldemort.

Eight? Hmmm.

Voldemort never intended to place a Horcrux in Harry, he only intended to vanquish him.

Dumbledore also never wanted to tell Harry his suspicions about Harry having a part of Voldemort's soul in him. He wanted him to find out, only when it was absolutely necessary.

Who's the new headmaster and minister.... blah. they didnt say

Kingsley is the new (temporary) Minister, but I think you're right about no mention of the next headmaster.

JK is writing an encyclopedia that answers most of the questions in reference to what happens to everybody in the book; and gives the reprive that Arthur Weasley is "supposed to get". That will probably answer alot of the loose ends questions.

I agree.

Was a good read but would have like a little more on the closure.

I really think it would have been a much better book if Harry had died for real at the end. This was too, uh, storybook.

would be easy to assume that the new headmaster is mcgonagall, right? after all she was the headmaster after dumbledore (before voldermort put snape as headmaster)

According to Wikipedia, McGonagall was too old so they chose another.

Yeah, for the end of a series, I would have liked more, but I guess thats what the encyclopedia is for.

HTH would anyone know the real answer anyways?

Unless the author wrote it, then it's all fake.

She did write it (or so the Wiki article said). I wish I could find it again.

I suspect that Dumbledore was the closest thing to immortal that a wizard could get to, and thus was a special case.

We don't have any 10 year old Mods.

Hey that's not fair, plenty of older people read the book, including me.

Yep, i recently disovered the books and think they are very good. I was at my childs swim meet this weekend and noticed many parents reading the book. I enjoyed book 7 but book 4 is best IMHO.

Yeah, that kind of irked me too. It was as if Rowlings decided to rush the ending.
