so what i'm getting out of this thread is that the only people who think amazon has gotten worse are those non-prime members who order $49.99 dollars of stuff JUST to quality for the free saver shipping that estimates like 7 day delivery time which is not guaranteed, and they cry because they don't get it in 2 days.

gotcha.

No, the complaints are from people like me, that are not Prime members, order an SSD and CPU for over $300, and it's not shipped for 9 days. 9 DAYS. Then they use smart post, and the item takes another 5 days to arrive.

I had quicker service back in the 80's from 1-800 mail order companies.

i've contacted amazon customer support probably 30+ times since i've been a prime member. not once have i had to call in and always just used chat, and i've always had my problem resolved very fast and in a way that made me happy.

and having problems with stuff not shipped and sold by amazon isn't really their fault. that's like getting upset with ebay when a seller screws you.

Yeap -- never called. Never even thought about calling to be honest. Chat ha always been flawless and quick for the dozen or so questions/"issues" I've had with Amazon.

I've been a Prime member for about 3 years. Most of my ordering happens around the holidays since most of my family lives 3000 miles away. Anyways. I ordered a bunch of computer parts about 10 days before I went on vacation. It took about 3-4 working days before everything shipped in two different shipments, so I was a little worried things wouldn't get here in time. It all arrived a day before I left, but it sucked having to worry.

I do think having Prime Video and Music makes up for cost of the yearly subscription. I use Music daily at the office or whenever I'm in the car.

Oh, and they have commercials (previews) pimping their original programming on Prime Video now. Boooo.

Amazon sucks.
Google sucks.
Apple sucks.
Microsoft sucks.
Beyonce sucks.
Obama sucks.

Every thing that's popular sucks!

That's pretty much what AT forums have become. It's popular to hate on the popular brands/products for no rhyme or reason because it's cool to be an elitist a$$hole.

Just a guess but those companies you used to order from didn't have anywhere near the volume what Amazon has to deal with today.

And it's cool to try to sound enlightened by dismissing legitimate criticism. There is plenty of rhyme and reason to hate Amazon, Apple, Microsoft, Hillary and even puppies. Only a truly pathetic asshole would think that any product or company was 100% perfect and that anyone who found fault with that product or company was automatically wrong.

I'm not 'hating on' Amazon. If you've read my posts in this thread you'll see I've praised them for a variety of things.

My primary complaint is with their customer service. And point has been that they are nowhere near as customer friendly as they were even a couple of years ago.

And I understand that from a business perspective, it makes sense to cheap out on CS and do things like being less liberal with return policy. But I think such changes deserve to be noted, if for no other reason than to keep people informed.

If you haven't had to deal with CS in the past couple of years, you probably think Amazon is the bees knees. And if you haven't had to return something to an Amazon vendor, you obviously wouldn't have any reason to complain about returns.

But many people have had to do those things and many more WILL have to do them in the foreseeable future, so these are things worth discussing.

I'm almost certain that their 1st level support is outsourced to India based upon responses I've received. I recently ordered a large lot of Pampers Swaddlers from them, and it said Prime. Delivery was 4 days out from "Prime" date however. Sent them a quick email, and they upgraded my delivery to Next day free of charge. Problem not found. I'm not expecting them to give me a free month of Prime or anything like that (like some have received). I think it all depends on your expectations.

I have done their subscribe and save for soap, tissue paper, paper towels and snacks for the kids for a little over two years. I have only bought a small pack of toilet paper in the past year. I think Amazon is amazing and I convinced a few people to sign up for Amazon Prime. No complaints from anyone.
