Has ANYONE actually been able to roll back to Win7?

As a long time lurker, seldom poster, I am one of those who tried Win 10 with the thought that I could roll back if not happy with 10...

I read of others that couldn't go back, but assumed that they made the mistake of deleting folders, or did the disk cleanup, etc and was VERY careful NOT to do anything that would threaten the ability to go back to 7.

The joke was on me, 'cause I got the dreaded "We're sorry, but you can't go back"

And that's why it's called Windows 10.

I upgraded my laptop, and don't really care of it can go back to 7. Since I don't want to, I am sure it can without issue. If it makes any difference, I did make it to the step where it asks my why I want to go back. Not sure if yours made it this far bf1035.

My desktop is quite the opposite. I have already cloned it to another drive and tested the update process. I have downloaded an iso and tested the install. I haven't tried the programs we use, but so far, so good.

So everything is backed up, so that even if a clean install is necessary, I can go back to 7 without losing data (once I am actually ready to do the upgrade).

No, did not get to the "WHY?" screen... I am a little relieved to find that at least some can go back.. the windows specific forums elsewhere are loaded with those who cannot.

My niece had no problem rolling back to 7 after a few days with 10 when she decided that she liked 7 better.

I went back twice. Both times there were problems. First time Bluetooth, WiFi and lan were borked. Reinstalling drivers didn't work. 2nd time I got the Win7 login screen - typed my password and got a black screen with just a mouse pointer. CTRL-ALT-DEL would bring up the logoff screen - started task manager, but there was nothing there.

Ended up restoring from backup. Problem now is last backup was after win10 downloaded so my computer wants to install win10 on reboot. I'll have to figure out how to stop that.

I had problems upgrading to 10 and had to 'reset' both systems but they both worked fine after the reset. Put classic shell on both and they still (mostly) resemble the windows I prefer minus the clear glass look.
