Who is we? Are you talking about yourself and one other, or your family?

The reason I ask is because I have a family of 5 which would probably equate out to 2 pies, plus drinks or maybe just water), which would be $80.00 for just pizza....

Pizza is not fine dining and definitely not worth 80 bucks for a family.

i also have a family of 5 and no way would i spend that much on pizza. my kids are teens and can easily devour 1 whole pizza each. so its the cheapo 5 buck deal from dominoes for us.

You buy CHEAP pizza...you GET cheap pizza.

Hell, even Costco's monster $10 pizzas are better than most chain pizza, and better than many of the local "mom & pop" pizza joints.

GAG D:

Costco's pizzas are not that good. they are horrible. Its just the greasiest shit you can ask for and is not tasty at all (note: I can only eat their cheese pizza so that is what i comment on)

papa murphy's take and bake is still good. we just got one in town. very exciting addition to our giant truck stop town.

+1 for Papa Murphy's. Their gourmet veggie and gourmet chicken garlic pizzas with the creamy garlic sauce... mmm. Also, the CHICKEN BACON ARTICHOKE.

Then again, I used to work there, so maybe I'm kinda biased.

The pizza hut carry out place by my condo makes surprisingly good pizza. The dine-in Pizza Hut a few blocks away sucks!

I really like D'Bronx pizza and my wife digs Pizza Shoppe. Minsky's isnt half bad either.

For just a regular pizza i like Pizza Shoppe the best i think. The other place i couldnt think of before but they only have 2 locations is Johnny Brusco's. Its NY style like D'Bronx is, but its pretty damn good also. can buy by the slice.

costco pizza is truly terrible

so much grease, no texture to crust. on par with pizza hut.

Why did mainstream pizza makers like Dominoes, Pizza Inn, Pizza Hut, etc. decide to stoop so low for so little?

I don't ever remember these chains being bastions of good pizza. Possibly Pizza Hut used to be somewhat better when their sit-down places littered the landscape, rather than the Pizza Hut/Wing Street places. Still, they were never all that wonderful.

Pizza Hut in the 80s used to be ok. The true mark of a good pizza is if you can eat it cold the next day.

Most are just nasty.

airlines have "food"??!!

Re: Pizza, around here (WI), you can get a great pizza if you wanna pay 18-24 dollars, otherwise you go with a cheap pizza, which is just so-so. I like having the choices.

As for airline food, when I was 23, I had to travel for work, it was my first flight ever. And it was short notice, so they put me in first class, I had a really good roast beef sandwich, cole slaw, potato chips, and a piece of cheesecake for my inflight meal and thought it was awesome. I thought flying was great and it'd always be like that.

Well, 9 years and about 200k miles later, I've been in 1st class about 3 times out of tons of flights, and NEVER had another meal after my first flight. hehe

wtf? if anything I've noticed pizza quality go up ESPECIALLY from the chains. Dominos has a really decent pizza now. I still prefer a couple of the local small pizzerias, but when it's 11:30pm and I have munchies Dominos delivers in more ways than one.

UNO's is shit.

And most of the delivery chains are not much better. And they have gone down in quality. BUT, they also seem to be cheaper.

I have become a pizza snob over the last 5 years after travelling on business and eating some of the best pizza in the country. I can't stand the chain stuff anymore (Well, except for Little Caesars---something about a $5 lg pizza that is edible is appealing heh).

Fortunately there's a small pizzeria in the middle of our small town that makes decent stuff, and we have a couple of awesome places within 15 miles. I've gotten to the point where I can tell what region and style a pizza is taking after, and what they put in their crust

Pretty local chain here in the ATL area but holy shit is it good.

The Mighty Meat is the best damn pizza ever!

I think Size has replaced Quality for many. I like things that Taste good, not something that merely has the best puke/$ ratio.

I've eaten so much pizza from one particular place that I can take a bite and tell you WHO made the crust. The ingredients are exactly the same, but how it's mixed, rolled out, etc., affects the texture/flavor slightly.

Mellow Mushroom is indeed delicious, but its not local to ATL. I've eaten at their locations in Orlando, Tampa, and Fayetteville, Arkansas.

There's a great local place in Mt. Dora, FL, called PizzAmore. We eat there about 3 times a month, and their pies are consistently delicious. I agree that chains are better now than ever, but with so many good, alternate choices, there's never a reason to eat at one.

I'm actually going to agree there. Their sausage and pepperoni have some kind of...substance....in them that causes me to be up all night nursing a giant gas bubble in my stomach.

The cheese isn't bad though.

Chain pizza is straight shit. Here in Akron we have a hole in the wall place that has the best pizza in town. $10.35 for a lg 1 topping or $8.30 for lg 1 topping on weds
you can't beat it for the price at all. Mama rosas is $5 for a lg 1 topping and it tastes like cardboard.

If your in Akron Ohio ever look up fiesta on newton street the only place I buy from. Tons of sauce and cheese plus the toppings are fresh non of that bulk container shit from this place
