my best mans girlfriend was a pro photographer, offered services for my wedding. she did a decent job, missed some key pics IMO but it wasnt devastating. there was, however, like 400 extra shots of my best man.

It sounds like you wrote a scathing review of a wedding videographer's work. The videographer posted edited video of your wedding online to refute your claim.

I'm guessing that the videographer still owns the copyright to the video. I don't think you can do anything about that, unless you can show that prior to taking the video, she agreed not to make your video public.

Also, this
I was brutally honest in my review but not slanderous and very matter-of-fact about the innumerable ways in which she did not deliver services as promised

does not jibe with this
If I'd given my little cousin (or a monkey, for that matter) a camcorder, he could've done a better job than MSP did

My apologies to MrsBugi if she thinks I'm posting inappropriately. This is information that is publicly available on the internet, and by bringing this to our attention in her thread, it becomes fair game to post.

Well considering she didn't want the video posted on the internet in the first place. I don't think it was wise to put a link to it on an internet forum.

this is pretty much how things work on internet forums. dont give us all the details and information and want people to side with you? expect an interrogation and a thorough search so people can determine for themselves what both sides may have to argue.

Although that maybe true, I'd probably still practice discretion by not linking it directly. She posted her review on here already and what the owner said and did.

with the information she posted, "MSP Gretchen S" google found the review in 2 seconds..

I think the OP is overreacting a bit... well.. not a bit.. ALOT.

The only thing "Gretchen S" posted was

I'm sorry you are so disappointed with the quality of your wedding video, and felt the need to be obscene and insulting. I stand by the quality of my work, and welcome anyone who's interested to check out an edited version

doesn't sound threatening...

in fact, the OP's review is pretty harsh, and the owner does have the right to defend themselves.

sounds like the OP is being a 'stuck up snob' ..

Edit: I suppose I should say something constructive as well. Based off the edited video, it didn't look that bad. I can see some of what you complained about, but I guess I'm curious about how much worse the un-edited footage was.

Also, EVERYONE I know who has wedding photos/videos done has been unhappy for one reason or another. I've always wondered how they can charge such high rates for work that no one seems happy with.

Of course her edit made it a lot better, but she does a poor job at getting the "good" shots to begin with--something I would expect for my wedding. She should also invest in a level for her tripod. A fluid bearing mount would help with some of her panoramas too.

QFT. No threat. Gretchen did something. She didn't threaten to do it. She's offering to stop doing it.

OP misrepresented their review - it was not just matter of fact.

Review your contract, OP. Gretchen may have every right to post the video. If not, it's up to you whether you want to just take your review down or fight.

can you edit comments? cause the op quoted something else. That's messed up if you're trying to invoke the response you want.

Since the video was available I took a gander. The video that was posted was obviously edited and still poor quality IMO. The sound was not good at all, the video quality was poor (but I'm tacking that up to internet download vs original DVD), the videographer's positioning was poor at several times, the fades and cuts were harsh, the washout of the lens from too much light happened several times.

I'd say the edited version of the video I watched didn't deserve quite the scathing review that was given but I have no doubt that the delivered product was extremely poor and taken by someone that either doesn't like their job or falls in the "should be doing something else" category and did deserve that review.

The "monkey" comment was a little over the top and in my opinion hurts your case a little bit. Glad someone out there writes reviews of people that provider poor service so that others do not fall into the trap.

my sister has some ongoing dispute with some salon owner. i heard it's degenerated to threats and shit.

somehow the salon owner also managed to cash a check that had its payment stopped....by waiting 6 months. (past when the stop payment applies, but apparently the check is good for a year.)

kinda retarded.

"I wish that you hadn't chosen to express your a disappointment in such a public, and insulting way. If you're going to post these kinds of comments about my work, I'm going to show people what the video looks like so they can judge for themselves instead of just taking your word for it.

If you'd like to remove your post or edit it to be more civil, I'd be happy to remove the link."

IMO the message has a threatening tone - that unless I "remove my post or make it more civil," she won't remove the link to very private and personal material which she does not have permission to put up.

From the OP I gather that the review was posted, the rebuttal was posted, a request to remove the video was sent, the refusal to remove the video was sent.

I don't think there is any foul play by the OP on editing or changing comments, some things are done over the phone or through email and not always in a public forum.

Noooooo!!! Refuted . . . oh well. I'm hoping to get that little cousin/monkey MrsBugi mentioned to video tape my wedding. I figure either way I can pay them with a bag of banana Laffy Taffys and save myself 950 bucks.

Wow, that is some craptastic video. I don't know if people were watching the same one I was, but that is just absolutely horrible. The quality was deplorable. I'd be pissed too.

Edit: One other thing...I realize the video should have been delivered sooner as it wasn't edited, but she does list this on her website:

How soon will I get my video?

Videos are generally ready 6-10 weeks after your wedding. If you can't wait that long, we do offer expedited editing service for a fee.

It doesn't say anything about time for edited vs. unedited. This is really slow imo, but she at least says it up front.

That footage blows, interlace problems and it looks like she used a GL1 or some other crappy camera that doesnt have an auto iris. White balance problems too.

I'm by no means an expert but it looks like you got what you paid for.

I can only go by the fact that I paid 300.00 for stills in 1974.

If a marrige is a one time deal, I'd probably get good references.

What she sent us was a poor-quality DVD with a basic menu and no other editing. Raw footage would cost $500+ extra. If it was decent I would've paid extra for it and have friends help with the editing... if the raw footage itself is crappy I don't think we can salvage much from it.
Well I was just going to suggest calling her and offering to take down your review in exchange for the raw footage in hopes of maybe finding some one that could edit it better.

Then you could put your review back up and say she tried to bribe you into taking it down. LOL

Agreed with you and others who were quick to recognize what awful quality the EDITED video was. We paid for and were given unedited footage which was far, far worse and there is no way I'm sinking another penny into this woman or her company's services. I've requested a refund/partial refund and am waiting for a response.

AT-ers are internet savvy and I suppose it was silly of me to assume my privacy and preferences would be respected. I am disappointed in the extremely poor judgment of the person who went ahead and posted the links, I think that was very tacky and rude but not everyone has the same values as I do and I accept that.

My bridesmaids are all lovely inside and out. It was a beautiful day, I just wish the video reflected that. At least we have awesome pictures from Christine!
