Jesus christ. I never would have believed it if I didn't see the video. You actually got married? Holy shit.

Two items:

1) Depending on the agreement you signed with her, she may have the right to display her work without your permission.
2) Depending on where you live a comment of "I'll remove it if you remove your negative review" could easily be considered blackmail or criminal coersion.

She totally ruined your video and her posting it only proves what a crummy job she did.

You walking down the aisle with your dad, with that big guy totally blocking the view? totally unacceptable!

This. Check the agreement. Laws can vary by state, but here it is illegal to post pictures or videos of someone else FOR PROFIT. Hence you can post what you want but a business has rules about it.

If you did sign a contract with a release, then you personally authorized it.

The more I thought about it, legal or not, it isn't right the bitch posted your video. That is something private and if you wanted other people to see it you would of invited them. I believe she did it out of spite.

Then again I did watch it.

You did the right thing. Now people can look at your video and decide if they want that quality from that particular company.

You may feel wierd that your video is on that site, but what is really going to happen? Who is really going to see it other than a few couples who want a wedding video?

Maybe you could have made a more informed decision if someone else had done what you did, and you got to see a real sample.

Heh. If there's one good thing that comes from this, it's that my status as a married women has finally been confirmed for skeptics.

Isn't that what all wedding videos look like? I guess it depends on how much you paid, but it looks like every other wedding video I've had the misfortune of watching.

Everyone looked very nice though and congrats!

Thanks, I think, oilfieldtrash. I actually started shaking when I saw what happened. She took one of the most private, intimate and vulnerable moments of my entire life and posted it on the internet without my permission or consent. I've become a much more private person in my older age and it felt really violating... most ATOT-ers have been very supportive which I appreciate, hopefully something good can come out of this and I hope she will take it down soon. She hasn't responded yet to my requests to remove it.

Now if you had a "professional" wedding night video taken, please posts some hints so that we may google that as well.

If you want the video taken down, find a lawyer (or contact a friend who is an attorney, if you have one) and have them send a letter.

This isn't legal advice and I don't claim to know even the first thing about this area of law, but it may be that the video is a work for hire, and therefore you own the copyright. If so, she is infringing that copyright by posting the video.

I haven't watched it, but the comments here make it sound pretty bad. If that's the case, you might be "winning" by letting her leave it up. Basically giving her enough rope right there. If it's not embarrassing, maybe leave it?

the woman posted her client's wedding video online. thats fucked up as is. but the one she posted was edited, which I am assuming is totally different than what the OP actually got.

I based my decision to hire her off of one sample that wasn't awesome but decent for the price. If she wanted to give a sample of her work it would've benefitted her more to show/post that sample instead of mine as (I think!) she has permission to show me the sample she did (I think it's also on her website somewhere with a direct link to it).

That being said, reality-check wise it's true that my feeling weird/uncomfortable is the worst that could happen (aside from getting a crappy wedding video!). Feels like a violation of privacy since it was posted without my consent and with my explicit request to remove it, might not bother others but it does feel wrong to me.

And there is no footage of the wedding night but if there was, it'd be kinda boring. We were exhausted after the day and passed out immediately after eating some bacon from the fridge.

did she have any kind of waiver or agreement that you signed? see if it says who owns the rights to the video. but i think youll have to play ball to get her to pull it off the site.

You are right. Had I given my little cousin (or a monkey, for that matter) a keyboard, he could've typed up a better poast.

You (rightfully, IMO) posted a scathing review in a public forum that invited rebuttal from the affected party. Then you bring this to our attention, another public forum, providing enough information for us to easily find this exchange on the public internet. Then you have the audacity to criticize me for "extremely poor judgment" for not respecting your privacy? Lulz.

that could possibly be true, if she didnt have 43 other videos before hers posted and accessible from her site.

I'm guessing that the videographer still owns the copyright to the video. I don't think you can do anything about that, unless you can show that prior to taking the video, she agreed not to make your video public.

Also, this
I was brutally honest in my review but not slanderous and very matter-of-fact about the innumerable ways in which she did not deliver services as promised

does not jibe with this
If I'd given my little cousin (or a monkey, for that matter) a camcorder, he could've done a better job than MSP did

I know. There's NO WAY he could have afforded a picture-taking monkey for the wedding.

lol.... since you joined in 2005, you may not remember all the HappyKitten, Dezign etc threads... they make nerdress, lola, mosh look tame..

like i said.. once an attention whore, always an attention whore.

if you want to "own" your video.. take it yourself. or hire a monkey (as the OP said they could) to take it.

letting a professional company take your video is giving them ownership.. you're just buying a copy from them.

not really true... everything i do under contract for my customers belongs to my customers unless specifically stated. all rights belong to them. unless i specifically state it in the contract. of course, i never put clauses in to retain ownership of any projects i do, that would be shitty.

at most i can see the contract containing a waiver to use the video in all or part for promotional uses. i also cant see her using that video as a serious promotional tool.

her style really annoys me, the other videos i sampled on her site were various stages of better or worse than the OPs, but they all had the same crappy style.

I think the OP is currently in a win-win situation. If the lady leaves the video up, Yes, the op looses that bit of privacy, but the company gets run out of business for their crappy quality. If the video goes down, The OP gains some privacy and the Lady continues on with her crappy life.

A male masquerading as a female masquerading as a lawyer? Ya, I'd take this advice.

Yelp has dealt with countless cases like this before. It's the same story, and being as I've been on yelp for 2+ years and have been contacted about MY reviews as well...it won't hold up in court. Period.

Also, not a guy.
