Well, the damned 4-year school near my house just released their Spring 2009 schedule and they have no classes which I need to take. Unfortunately my job and house are in a dead-zone of universities. For some reason, despite the huge population in my area, there are no *real* 4-year schools around me. The nearest is about 2.5-hours away.

Has anyone gotten a degree online? By degree, I mean a real degree which would allow me to go to graduate school. One that is actually from an accredited University.

If so, what did you think of it? Was it easy to work and take classes? I'm specifically looking at a Mathematics degree. I have a feeling that I'm SOL. I already have an Associate's Degree so I'll need classes like Advance Calculus, Topology, etc. The school here on the coast was supposed to be adding more classes, but I guess there's no demand for mathematics degrees down here.

I know it's a long shot, but thanks!

I am currently taking courses from the University of Illinois online. There are a few requirements that you need to meet though. The biggest one is a testing center, I use the local community college, but you need some place they will trust to proctor your tests for you. The other big one is general education, they only have some degrees online, and anything that is not part of that core isn't offered online. You must find some other way to meet the requirement. Again, local community college is a lifesaver, and it has allowed me to keep my job and get my degree rather quickly. There are a few other Universities with online degree programs. I would suggest you check for one in your state for in state tuition if you have a good state school.

Did you check to see if the universities/colleges near you offer online courses?

Some public universities have online or distance learning programs. If you didn't mind paying out-of-state tuition, you could look at schools outside your own state.

Yep. They're all first year math courses.

Southern Mississippi. Unfortunately we're in a university dead-zone. There are schools between 70 and 100 miles away in just about every direction, but that's a long commute.

I might check out some of the schools in other states. My employer will pay for my degree, so I'll have to see about out-of-state online education. Thanks everyone.
