Just a huge, huge, huge, huge warning. Trying to get off any SSRI for most people is a tough, tough task. The withdrawal is insane. Your doctors will probably lie and say that you can get off it no problem. They're lying obviously.
I have OCD and take Lexapro and trying to go off the Lex is a pain.
I highly suggest you go and learn Cognitive Behavorial Therapy to combat the OCD. It works wonders and you can do it without the medication. In the long run you'll thank me! Paxilprogress.org - read all the horror stories and I do mean horror stories. People off Paxil one year later still having severe affects such as dizziness, unable to think straight, depersonalization. Unbelievable!
It varies. My mom went off Paxil, and she had bad headaches for at least a week.
I was on Celexa for several months. When I stopped taking that, I had mild headaches, but was very dizzy, felt a bit numb in my limbs, had difficulty concentrating, and it seemed to screw with my short term memory.
It sucks how little medical science actually knows about the workings of the brain. Sure we've come far, but it's like an infant learning to crawl. Sure it's mobile, but it's really not all that big of an accomplishment.
I also don't know if Paxil carries any risk of seizures, but do check the lengthy fine-print for
any mention of it. I don't know if Wellbutrin is in the same class, but I was on that for only a week and had a seizure as a result. Had I been driving, that may well have been it for me, and it would probably have looked like I fell asleep at the wheel, assuming no one got to me right away to see the seizure in progress.
I was in a class at the time, and luckily didn't get hurt badly. I lost consciousness during it, but I was told that I lurched out of my chair and fell to the floor convulsing grand mal style, and did so for a few minutes. They helped me back into my chair, my mind came back online, and I resumed typing, unaware that anything had happened. Shortly after I was told what happened, nausea set in. Awhile later, the muscle soreness set in; I guess every one of them was overexerted during the seizure.
I think the seizure risk with Wellbutrin is 4-in-1000.
