Not a fan. If truffles were not so expensive nobody would eat them, they're popular on pretension alone.

I have had a few things with truffles, a nice taste but too expensive for normal use. Had a really really nice truffle soup about a year ago.

tasty but sometimes they lack taste (I sometimes eat some, they're black truffles). The expensive stuff (white truffles) taste real good though.
They have an unique taste, I get a craving sometimes.

You can buy truffle oil and apply it on a risotto with just mascarpone (so it has a neutral taste while still being good on its own, and you can feel the truffle).

Seen some spots on TV about people who supplement their income going through the forest looking for truffles. Pretty cool, but I'm surprised they don't mistake good mushrooms for bad.

Truffles are too strong to eat by themselves...not to mention too expensive (think of the richest, woodiest mushroom you've ever eaten) They're usually shaved paper thin on to dishes, or they're soiled in oil to make truffle oil for flavoring.

They're very good, but it's not everyone's cup of tea.

Real truffles are strong, but very tasty as part of a dish.

On a side note, most commercial truffle oil is nasty, as it's not usually made with truffles; it's olive oil with chemicals added to kind of make it smell and taste like truffles. It doesn't.

Extremely pungent, gotta use them sparingly in cooking otherwise their flavor completely overwhelms. It is definitely a flavor that you can get tired of fast if there is too much of it.

This is very true. That's why it's usually used to flavor a starch. Bland + strong equalizes.

Ive had truffle oil Mac and cheese a few times. Tasted pretty good.
