There were a LOT of Beagle/Coyote mixes being bred about 20 years ago. A friend had one and a neighbor got one later on. I really couldn't see much difference between them and a Beagle crossed with a Shepherd mix, except for the color. They both howled a lot, but my Beagle did too, and he was way more aggresive than either of the Coyote mixes. If they seem to be normally behaved, I don't see much problem with it.
An old guy I worked with had about a dozen wolves. His 30 year younger trophy wife and daughter were terrified of them, but his 2 older kids and him would be mobbed by them like movie stars when they went into their pen. The two biggest males, the Alpha and his brother, I guess he would be called the Beta, were close to 200 pounds and were very scary. Even when crossed with a clamer dog, like a lab, they were pretty squirelly. I played with one of the Lab crosses. Seems like anything unexpected got him upset or scared.
Any of those wolves could have killed the old guy, he was maybe 135 pounds and had been hurt badly in the Korean war, and was officially 100% disabled. Didn't keep him from working a full time job standing the entire time, fathering 3 kids, and having two long time marriages, all while collecting a disability check.
