Has anyone run a Pentium 200 MMX at 2*100mhz for 200mhz?

I have this chip and a FIC PA2013 motherboard that will run 2*100 or 3.5*66. I would like to run this chip at a faster bus speed. Can this chip handle the 100mhz bus speed? Also, how high has this chip been overclocked?
Thanks in advance.

I've run P166mmx's at 2.5 X 100 back in the day and MAN... did it seem FAST! Never had any problems with them at that speed. If yours isn't clock limited, I'd try for 3X100 or at least 3X75.

your safest bet is 3.5*66, not messing with the fsb.

but you could try 3x75 or 3x100, if you got decent cpu cooling (something comparable to a standard s370 hs/f). you should also have some decent case cooling to help out that poor mobo and expansion cards. an intake fan supplementing the PS'a fan should be adequet.

You can give it a shot, but not all of the mmx chips are the overclocking wonders a lot of people talk about. The OEM chips seem to be a lot less friendly toward overclocking than retail chips.

I have an oem 233mmx in a Super7 mobo (some cheap piece of junk with a SiS chipset) that won't boot into Windows @ 2.5x100. At any reasonable voltage. So, out of curiousity, I dropped it down to 2x100 (that's right -- underclocking) and it wouldn't boot into Windows either. Interestingly enough, the chip posts all the way to 3x100. But it won't make it into windows overclocked at all.

It has to be the chip:
It's not the RAM -- I have PC100.
It's not the board -- I've ran K6-2's in it like a rock.
It's not the cooling -- the CPU temp in BIOS at 2.5x100 is 99F.

I ran a P200MMX at 100x2.5 in a cheap-o Super7 PCChips mobo for over a year. It worked great. Oh, it did have the memory operating asynchronously at 66MHz though (due to old 72pin SIMMs). But there was 1MB of cache on the board, and that hummed quite nicely at 100.

Intel's Pentiums are not quite up to 100 MHz bus operation. After all, AMD and Cyrix both had to tweak their K6 and MII design and packaging to get there. Intel didn't bother, of course, they were trying to move people to slot-1 at the time.

Try 83 MHz 2.5x - that'll be 208 MHz with much faster L2 cache. If your RAM is up to that, that'll be faster as well. Else, put the RAM bus onto the AGP clock for 66 MHz. The 2013 has a jumper for that.

Regards, Peter
