I saw a UFO land here at my local Best Buy and a big hairy Sasquach got out, walked in and bought an X800XL for MSRP.

What is so hard to beleive about that?

Agreed- at $300 this is a great buy, and the more we see at this price, the better.

Perhaps the wind of change is blowing for ATI and they actually plan to sell cards again- good for all of us.

You said they wouldnt show up for at least a year for MSRP, and you were wrong. Dont be mad because you're wrong, just admit it and get over it. I already did prove you wrong, I dont need to buy one and send it to you.

Wow.. Just wow. You really added some merit to your corner.
You have not proved one single thing accept that you have a thick head. (Slang for "dense"). My offer still stands. If you can't fulfill it, you lose.

Oh, yes. I absolutely do want one. For MSRP that is. 16 pipe card offering similar performance to a 6800GT for much less. Sounds too good to be true, and unfortunately, right now, it is. I will most likely pick one up used down the road for $300.00. Unless Ackmed steps up. But I don't think he has the stones let alone a leg to stand on.

Your offer is retarded.

By not allowing him to purchase in his home state, you have removed all the retailers (CompUSA, BestBuy, Frys) that do not price gouge, and will offer the card at MSRP.

Why don't you "step up to the plate" and pay the cost + tax if he can find one in a retail store? Probably because you'll lose...

CompUSA here in Lewisville (north o'Dallas) had a few in stock as of Friday but sold all of them as of Saturday without an estimate on when more would arrive. Fry's however, had at least five in stock at retail price - $300. One is now in my possession.

Now, to wait for all of the other components of the computer to arrive in the mail.

Not retarded, just the standard attack the messenger. Will be interesting to see if he actually buys an ATI card when he can't deny their existance. My guess is we will hear about sli or drivers.

You should watch the personal attacks or you might find yourself with a vacation.

And on another note. These are not X850XT's we're talkain about, but X800XL's which should have higher yeilds, so the fact that people are buying them for MSRP should be no big deal. Newegg has allway's been a price gouger on new item's when they have a corner on the market

Hot hot hot!!

I just refreshed my memory by reading a bunch of reviews..

Nothing from NVIDIA comes close to offering the kind of performance ATI is delivering at that price point. 6800GT PCI-E better come down a couple hundred dollars or ATI will dominate sales.

Uh, two people just above you posted that they bought it, for $299. You said it wouldnt be that price for a year. Why do I have to prove anything to you? You were wrong, get over it.

I think the AnandTech message boards are like the Room of Spirit and Time from Dragonball Z. A year for every day.

keysplayr, just admit that you were wrong and be quiet. I bought one for under MSRP and have received a ship confirmation on it already. And who would take you up on lame offer, too cheap to pay sales tax and you're offering a measly $20. The effort to buy one, package it up and then go to the post office to mail it; based on time and effort, I'm probably losing money on the deal. Get real. Go to Hot Deals or do a search and you'll see that a good number of folks have gotten this deal or paid MSRP.
