Has anyone tried those As Seen on TV Dent Pullers?

I got a little dent on the back of my Integra and I want to try pulling it out my self. I was just wondering if anyone's tried one of these dent pullers. They sell them at the As Seen on TV store for $30. Please let me know if you have any thoughts or ideas. Thanks.

I've seen numerous news reports, and also a Car and Driver clip saying "doesn't work".

C&D's statement was "atleast we can expense it".

I've heard they don't work. Just shop around for the cheapest price to have it fixed...

You may be able to push the dent out from the inside by removing whatever trim panel is covering the sheetmetal.

If the dent is big enough, try using a plunger. Yes, a toilet plunger. Don't laugh...it works.

Also heard it doesnt work. How do body shops fix dents? Do they take the panel off and hammer it out from the inside?

I know this. That's why I recommended the plunger. Most people have one in their home...all you lose is five minutes of your time.

Depending on the panel, sometimes they'll drill a hole, insert a tool, and phyisically yank it out. Then they add a small amount of filler and paint over it.

from what I have heard they are useless....if you have a dent...find someone who works at a car lot...there is a guy that goes around to the carlots and pulls the little dents for them...he should charge you a heck of a lot less than a body shop and do the same quality of work

I've got the inside scoop on these. They DO work, but only on "soft" dents. A soft dent would be if say, your car was hit by a baseball and simply pressed the sheetmetal in. In that case, a dent pull would work. If it was hit by something that made a "sharp" dent, like the edge of a baseball bat, then it wouldn't work.

They also work better on smaller cars with thinner metal than with larger cars.

I saw a consumer news special where they tested this product. It kinda worked but no where near what was advertised. It was also alot more difficult than the commercial shows. I have had good luck with the "paint-less dent removal" services that are advertised in the yellowpages. I have had them pull a few dents on a few different occasions on my integra and I have always been pleased.

I'm surprised to hear everyone so negative - on a car forum I read, people had some surprising success with the as-seen-on-TV one that you can also buy at target...

Basically you glue a little suction cup to the dent, let it dry, and then you attach some sort of crank to it and as you turn, it lifts outward on the dent. Then you use solvent to remove the glue.

They said for $30 it was worth it. ?? I haven't tried it yet, keep waiting for target to put it on clearance. hehehe. I think it's called the 'ding king' or something goofy like that.

I purchased one for $15.00 from a guy on Ebay. I didn't have to pay shipping because he lived about 5 miles away. I don't think the tool works very good at all. However, we've had our vehicle repaired after a hail storm messed it up. The "paintless" dent removal process worked very well. The car looked as good as new when it was done. On Ebay, several sellers are selling Paintless Dent Removal tools for some good prices - if you're insisting on removing the dents yourself.

I took the Honda in for a popped in bumber and a dent in the side. There was this biker chick with huge tits that worked as the secretary and after she photographed the dammage she opened my trunk and pealed back the trunk lining, stuck her hand inside and practically eliminated the dent by rubbing on it from the inside. She just rubbed up and down on it. Up and down, up and down. Did I mentioned she had huge tits? Then she got down on her knees, jesus can I finish...... ... ...... ...... and took her hand and put it up under the bumper and pushed the really huge indent in the corner of the bumper out like it was wax. Then she rubbed it too. Except for some scuffing you could hardly see the dent. A course I was wondering what it would be like to bumper, and having trouble avoiding looking only at her tits, but she had masterful and experienced hands. She also had big....... oh yeah, I already said that.
