Has anyone used this fan?

I have two of them, and they are pretty quiet, you can hear the video card over the fans, and they push ALOT of air out too, which is good.

I have the Chrome version of those, though.

I got one cheaply on ebay, irrelevantly it's black with a 'chrome' fan. I'd say it's pretty damn quiet, i can't hear the difference if i unplug it, so i presume it's quiet lol, it's a quiet case too, except for my freshly hoisted 9800pro, which is SO noisy. I hate that damn gpu fan with a passion (waiting on either a quiet x1900xtx cooler or hoping that the 7900 turns out cheap like they say and quieter like the 7800gtx512 was)

Cliffs-

-I've got one, I'd say it's very good, i've got it at 12v, I'd buy another, although I'm sure I got it cheaper before, so have been reluctant to purchase lol

-I hate my 9800's gpu fan

If you want it, go for it.

My opinion only.
In free air, as Sincity is using his for case exhaust it will lead a long life but load it up by
making that tiny*sleeved*bearing motor drive air through HS fins or suck past filters/grill work=another story. Sleeve bearins do not tolerate heat well, this is why PSUs with rear exhaust fans are speced to be ball bearing. Most CPU HS fans are ball bearing.
Ball bearings tolerate heat very well.
Tiny motors have the advantage of permitting air flow closer to the hub but the motor being
so small in diameter must be made to provide the torque to drive that 120mm fan.
The end result is a motor that has to run hot=not good for sleeved bearings.

Your linked fan drives 37.5cfm@19.5dBA and has sleeve bearings.
The Akasa 120x25 drives 44.8cfm@18dBA costs $5 less has high quality ball bearings and a tach/sensor wire.
According to the guys over at SPCR the Akasa is OEMed by Y.S.Tech.

My money would go for the Akasa fan. But I place function way over form. For some, function sits in the
back seat of the station wagon

EDIT: You want blue LED=go with the CoolerMaster I linked. It has a sensor wire but is a sleeve bearing fan. It does have a decent track record.

Thanks - I didn't know there were problems with sleeve bearings. I was strongly considering the Akasa, but I really want the silly LEDs.

There are modding guides to do it, some ppl have installed thier own LEDs in the clear
fan housings=lot of work and many wires.

Note: Gun control is 3" groups at 25' triple tap or 2"@100yds w/long gun.

I guess I could just install seperate cold cathodes to my system. I think I'm going to use the Tuniq Tower - that alone should look pretty nice.

Antec Tricool LED

Just got one today at Compusa, blue LED. !20 mm, very quiet. Double ball bearing. Has a 3 way switch to set it at Low, Medium, or High. Mine is set at low. I cannot hear it. As a matter of fact, I have to listen hard to hear my computer at all.

With my motherboard, the case fans RPM are raised and lowered depending on the CPU and MB temps.

Write this down somewhere. ThermalTake fan specs are a lie...OK

TT may provide some decent cases and HSs but they spec the dBA at the start-up voltage
and the cfm at 12V, so thier spec is a half-truth=a big fib

Rule of thumb: When dBA is 50% of cfm it's an OK fan. When dBA is 40% of cfm it is an
exceptional fan or something is being fudged.

I have several Sanyo Denki 120x38, 102.5cfm@39dBA, that's just below 40%. It is an exceptional fan.
When 5Ved it can not be heard at 12". A guesstament of cfm would be about 45.

You want a quiet, good 120x25.? Take a look at Akasa fans.

Thanks for the heads up!

I'll probably pickup a couple Antec 3 speeds. Any thoughts?

I'm not into twinkley fans or crap that glows

But the LED fan that gets most reccomended around here is the CoolerMaster LED jobs.
You'll have to do a search of this forum. IIRC, there have been more positive than negative post about the Antec 3 Speeds.
