Has Chrome been a total dog for anyone lately?

Try loading engadget.com for example. My whole browser stutters, jams, chokes, freezes, etc. It takes a good 10 seconds of horrible slow jerkyness before the content is navigable. Engadget is the worst offender but I've been having this problem with Chrome for a few weeks. I'm getting random lag attacks, occasional CPU rapeage, that sort of fun stuff.

When I open a new tab to a relatively simple page, the whole browser freezes up for about 3 seconds.

I've tried switching from Stable to Dev... same result. I tried disabling all addons, same result. I don't have jerky problems in Firefox or IE... not sure what the issue is. Any ideas? Could it be shitty GPU acceleration?

It almost seems like if I were to set the redraw rate from instant to once per second or two, this would be fixed. But it doesn't seem like Chrome has such a setting.

Wow never mind... turns out all this is due to the Adblock addon. Apparently I missed it when I was disabling my plugins. Be warned users, Adblock lags the shit out of Chrome!

I've transitioned to a hosts file combined with Adsweep. Adsweep alone is a tad laggier than the hosts file I've found. Easy fix.

I found Admuncher was missing some ads.

Don't use chrome and never will.

Report the ads to Ad Muncher they will be blocked within a few hours or days! Best programmer in the business! Quick and very friendly.

I'm using Chromium on Linux, not Chrome on Windows, but it's running just fine here with the Adblock extension.

Best thing that ever happened to people browsing the net It's a real time process that doesn't even let the ads get to your browser. It blocks everything, even ads in YouTube or Hulu. Your browser either completely ignores the ad or it's replaced with a [Munched] thing.

Yep! Go Australia! The author is there not that it matters. It is amazing how active and responsive he is though.

Glad I got it when I did sense everyone who got it at the old price are locked in. Not sure what happens when Ad Muncher 5.0 comes out though. Think it depends on when you bought it. Weird, I'm running Chromium on Linux with Adblock and it's fine.
