Thing of it is, it's not awful at all. It's better than the WiiU touch screen or the 3DS touch screen (you almost need the stylus to use them).

I can't comment on how good it actually is. Was just expanding on what the other poster said. However, if it isn't up to par with my iPhone's touch capabilities, then it will feel a lot worse, but that is a product of the iPhone actually having a very capable touch screen and being designed properly to implement it.

Feel worse? What exactly do you feel on a touchscreen?

Bah...whatever. the whole point is, one remote that controls everything + voice commands for shortcuts is a shit ton better than 10 remotes and swapping input to watch TV and go to a game or do netflix.

I just keep everything simple so that a couple universal remotes is all I need, that being the Comcast remote and PS3 remote for dvd's. I don't see what the big deal is in having 10 devices and a $350 remote but everyone has their own priorities. Laziness being high for some apparently.

I find it interesting that this turned into a discussion about universal remote perhaps it is a richer topic than the OP?

It';s not being lazy at all. Convience does not equal laziness. Do you get up to change the channel? No? You're lazy...would you not argue that a remote is a convenience?

Can't get more simple than one device to do everything.

Yeah, because they go hand in hand to me. To realize what MS is trying to do with the single box to do TV, streaming, and gaming. You also need to combine that with a device that can control all your equipment. The Xbox One system alone doesn't do it. There are still functions many people use like custom DSP modes that they would grab their remote for. To maximize the convenience, I find it best to consolidate it all into one remote that does everything you want.

I grew up manually changing channels, adjusting rabbit ears and could easily do so again no problem. Actually I do for most everything, I get up to turn my PC on. I get up to virtually turn most everything on actually and often have to go near the TV to a shelf to even get the remote...because I don't lazily leave it stuffed in the couch like most.
I still manually unlock my car doors and even put the shopping cart up regardless how far away it is.
Convenience is a lazy habit you fall into because you repeat it over and over and will likely cry like a baby if you have to do otherwise.

yeah driving a car 60 miles is a convenience. you should just walk the 60 miles or ride on a horse like they used to do 100 years ago you lazy piece of crap!

why do you even use email on your computer you lazy POS? you should write it out, put it in an envelope, walk to the post office, put a stamp on it, then wait a week to hear back from the person you are communicating with. or if you don't even want to be that lazy, you could train a carrier pigeon and use that instead.

god you all are so damn lazy...

I used my brother's Harmony Touch over Thanksgiving and for $350 with the hockey puck thing, I expect better. Heck, the touchscreen on that thing is ABYSMAL. If it's not iPhone-level responsive, it's not coming into my home because I don't want to play tech support every time someone else wants to use the TV. I'd rather just they deal with 5 remotes which is sadly less daunting. :\

I've solved your problem. Refurb iPod Touch from Apple, $189. Add the harmony smart control for $99 and you have your remote with iPhone responsiveness. Amazon has the smart control for $105 right now which would give you the simple remote that I use 99% of the time. One touch to six macros rocks.

Eh, if like your job was like as an entertainment stream director for violent inmates, who, if suffering a momentary loss of distraction would murder everyone in the city...yeah, stuff like that would matter. For most people, they either binge-watch television series, or they'll watch movies, or the tv will be on just as background noise. I mean, if you're flipping entertainment streams every 30 seconds then...

That said, the only thing I really want out of television now is like some sort of way I can just sit on the couch with my iphone, TYPE in a search term, and have something on the schedule come up. That's it. Typing letters into like a DirectTV box really really sucks.

Well I grew up without a microwave. I know lazy motherf*****s who have one, but I'm not like that. I heat up my leftovers over an open fire!

I bet you use a gas stove with fuel you didn't process yourself! I grew up with a stone I fashioned into an axe and some trees! And a pit I dug myself to burn them in!
