It is terribly difficult but more easily possible for a person who hates himself to imagine that a Supreme Being who loves all of us maximally and the same might actually really love him, than that worthless piece of shit he feels himself to be to love him. Just about anything is more possible than that.

I had religious experiences like many people. Mine were strong, personal and powerfully moving. They made me cry. They gave me hope. They inspired me to love others even if they didn't deserve it, because I was given the gift of life, brought into existence by the choice of a god who chooses to love me despite my self will gone astray.

This is why I expressed my desire to direct what I said more to folk who lack faith in God out there than to you, to the folk here who don't see a path because they reject that faith. I just wanted to express my belief that a path without external faith, while more difficult generally, is still possible. And this makes a difference how? What came first, the consciousness or the brain activity. If I intend to add numbers in my head a brain scan will detect activity in the computational areas of my brain. Should I think then that this brain activity caused me to add or was it my need for an answer. Why do you intend anything? Cosmic rays? Why does a river flow to the sea? Isn't it gravity. He who controls gravity controls the universe, no? Where does the gravity of intention come from? How can you say who intends by intending to know? Won't you always be one step behind? You got on a wave and rode it and the chemical energy for that manifestation waned. You can't experience in one state what you can in another. Maybe you had nightmares as a child when sick that you can taste again in a fevered state.
