Has somebody killed his SBLive! before?

I think I just did, there's no sound output from the card both in Windows 2000 and BeOS 5 Professional. :|:|:|:|

Want to know what happened?

I once ran into a problem where my rear output stopped working. I restarted, updated drivers, and tried doing whatever I could, but nothing worked.. until I just simply put the card into another different pci slot. Everything working fine now

No, there's an IRQ conflict with Lucent WinModem I just installed yesterday. I moved it to a different PCI slot. It helped recognizing the card back, but still no sound. Then I tried booting up BeOS, there's still no sound!!!! It even hanged when it was shutting down.

I had two go bad on me. On the first one, the rear right speaker stopped working and the second one I blew up along with my MB, RAM, TNT2 and CD when my power supply exploded (really). I just returned them.

Hmm, sounds like it will make a good doorstop. Try it in a new system and see what happens. Were you fooling around in your system while it was on?

Just to make sure it's not your speakers, try another speaker if you have a spare or try a headphone.

Also, this sounds dumb but last time I clean installed, the mute box in the volume control was checked for some reason, doubt that's your case but wouldnt hurt to look

Hmm Killed your SBLive that's a new one, you sure you grounded yourself before you touched it. You probably had static on ya and killed it, but i dunno try changing PCI slot, if it doesnt work then its dead.

Well, all the things happened right after I changed my motherboard and plugged the new Lucent WinModem I bought.

I'm sure it wasn't muted because I just did a clean install of Win2k.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't my fault.

I am not sure, but I thought you had to notice or feel or even hear a static shock that could mess up your compuer parts?

It's not the soundcard. It's the generic daughter card for SBLive! which caused all the f****** trouble!!!!

The soundcard works perfectly once I pulled it out.

I have one in the basement right now, the rear speaker went out.
It still works with the front speaker though.

I've wanted to kill mine. Didn't though, cause I don't know how much satisfaction that would give me. If only I could make it scream in pain.....
