Has the word "dude" become a figure of speach?

I use dude constantly. ever since TMNT

I was just thinking the same thing. I used it casually after that, but almost religiously after Bill & Ted.

what blew my mind was hearing the term "my bad" used by a top exec of one of the big 3 publishing firms.
The guy is like 60 something and he made a mistake in what he said in the middle of the meeting and said "my bad".
I guess its not so much the fact he used it moreso its a publishing firm and english like that is frowned upon on a daily basis.
