McCain's run the dirtiest campaign I've ever witnessed. Neither him nor Palin have been the slightest bit honorable in this election.

What exactly has his campaign done?

Offended a lot of Democrats, brought up the names of a few criminals that have associations with Obama. All of which the Democrats seem to believe it all has little relevance. I guess if Obama were to pick Osama Bin Laden as his Chief of International Peace, the Democrats would be happy with that too. :lips:

Troll.

My reaction precisely... you beat me to it.

I must admit though, if I never hear a snarky crack from Palin again I'll be happy. She's like nails on a chalkboard to me at times.

She'll be back, in some form or another. Even "hot head" Howard Dean was fortunate enough to get the position of being head of the Democratic National Committee.

Dean has far more brains than Palin. What do you think of her chances of running the RNC? Ha! I wouldn't bet on her being back. She brought sex appeal to the ticket, little else. She'll have less and less of that going forward and I don't expect her to ever be viable in terms of experience and understanding. And when you see the thrashing she and Mc are going to get Tuesday, you'll start wishing you'd never heard of her, whether you admit it or not.

Well if the last three Presidential election cycles are any indication being intelligent isn't high on the list of priorities for Republican Presidential candidates.

Not even close. Bush/Kerry:

Bush: Cocaine use, drunk driving, vietnam dodging all brought out
Kerry: Vietnam & post vietnam activities

All discussed ad naseum by the mass media (even some bringing it to the table).

I don't think it was sex appeal that Palin brought, though it may have helped. She was chosen as a tool to be wielded by the McCain camp. First she appeals to that ever growing portion of our country that believes elected officials should be no smarter than they are, to the anti-intellectual she is a breath of fresh air compared to the other four people involved in this election. Second she can say the 'dirty' things McCain can't without being called on it. I think in this capacity she failed, she got the words out but they really only stuck to people that were already supporters and it bought nothing for the campaign in general.

I don't think overall this campaign has been that dirty. I think Obama, Biden and McCain are all pretty clean, for politicians, and Palin did the most mudslinging but it was largely ineffective. Now I think the supporters have been uglier than any I've seen.

Bush/Kerry was worse. My how people forget.

no shit. The candidates have at least stuck to attacking eachothers message and policy, instead of their character. Then again, neither of these candidates seems to have major character weaknesses that are easy to attack. Lets face it, Kerry was a douche, and his 3 purple hearts with nary a scar to show for it, doesnt pass the stink test.

This is a joke, right?

No, the fight between John Quincy Adams and Andrew Jackson was worse. Went to the House of Representatives, where Adams prevailed. I'd also throw in the election of Garfield, but why bother? Both in my time of course.

It is from the McCain side of things. I would have never ever expected the nasty things said by surrogates on behalf of McCain. And even worse was McCain condoning it.

I don't think this campaign has been that bad. The usual bullshit, but nothing extraordinary. Palin isn't smart enough to have attacked with any effectiveness, and Biden has been very soft pedalled, particularly the last two weeks. Biden WHO? McCain doesn't have his heart in truly low blows, and Obama is a teddy bear. If these guys had been two old football coaches, now, we would have seem some ass kicking.....

I can't say I've seen dirtier, but I've definitely seen more effective slime attacks from the repubs. Willie Horton and the Swiftliars come to mind.

It's not for lack of trying, however. The McCain campaign has focused almost entirely on Obama's alleged defects of character, and not talking much about their own virtues, that's for sure...

Ayers! Wright! Rezko! Khalidi! Alinsky! Socialist! Muslim! Elitist!

And a lot of lame variants on the theme. It's gotta be tough for rightwing strategists atm- their brand, the republican brand, is badly and deservedly very tarnished- they wore out the positive aspects of their gut level emotional pitch, 9/11 is no longer the boogeyman incarnate, and their mudslinging doesn't even hit the target, let alone actually stick... Which just makes 'em more desperate and treacherous...

With any luck at all, the electorate will send 'em packing on Tuesday, which is when the real fun will begin on the Right- the recriminations and backstabbing should be an epic bloodbath, with various attempts to redefine the party thru the lens of the bonehead base... All of their framing, message formulation, soundbite engineering and sloganeering has radicalized that base, creating a huge and growing gulf between them and the rest of America, the rest of the country that's not buying it, not again, not with the results they've seen so far...
