since the 5820k have 6 core, why would anyone get the 5930k? the only thing thats it missing is the 40 pci lanes... if anyone wants to QUAD SLI they could easily afford the 5930k

This, and 200Mhz. And also if some people need lots of lanes for add in cards like RAID controllers.

5820K "Entry level" Hex-core for SLI/CF
5930K "Top level" Hex-core for tri/quad SLI/CF
5960X "Über level" Octo-core.

Intel will undoubtedly also save the better binned chips for the 5930k. You'll have to wait and see if that has a difference on what kind of speeds they can get.

Wouldn't 5820k only be better for just single gpu setup and if you want sli or cf you would go 5930k.

Unless you don't mind running the lane at 8x for both gpu's in the 5820k setup I suppose this would be pci 3.0 there is more than enough bandwidth so maybe it doesn't matter.

yeah, I haven't seen any benchmarks where 16x + 8x limits performance.

Amazon is starting to stock some pretty good hardware.

It looks like they are starting to finally compete with other popular stores like Newegg.

These are already server rejects, if anything is binned, it might be the 5960X. In six months, it probably won't matter much, as Intel improves yields.

These Haswell-E chips do NOT come with a heatsink, correct? What's a good option for cooling these 140W TDP bad boys?

Will a 212EVO handle it? Overclocked? Or do you need something a little beefier?

Edit: I hope that the 5820K has HT. 12 threads of cheap (sort of) DC goodness. I could go for that. (When I save up a bit more.)

Would be all over this bad boy if I didn't just pickup a 3970X + Rampage IV Extreme for $540
Thought Haswell-E would only be coming in mid-Sept.

it does not make any sense for Intel to ship a crappy stock cooler on an "enthusiast" chip.

and being that this is Hasswell and will probably run at a higher TDP, I dont think the 212 EVO can handle it after overclocked.

Saw an article last week showing the new HW-E fan/heatsinks vs. SB-E/IB-E. I believe they are shipping with them.

Not a bad deal to get one with it, just in case you need some extra time to get a bracket adapter or waterblock if you can't find one right away. I know a lot of the good HSFs were sold-out when SB-E first launched.

Hope it clocks better than Haswell. A 4.4GHz HW-E is only about on-par with a 4.9GHz SB-E (new instructions and improved platform aside).

True, but you get six cores for considerably cheaper than SB E in absolute dollars, and even better when you account for inflation. Too bad it is not on the mainstream platform though. I think a hex core for 400.00 on the mainstream platform would convince a lot of SB and IvB quad users to finally upgrade.

No arguments here. I was just talking from the "if you're loosely constrained from a $$$ angle, this is the best performance you can achieve over the past few generations" perspective.
Now that you can pickup 3930Ks for ~$350 on Amazon warehouse, and get X79 mobos on the cheap (just picked up an X79-UD3 for $38 + tax at Microcenter last night), the HEDT platform seems much more appealing.

When does the NDA lift?

Rumours are saying the 29th and I believe it. Some online shops that have preorders for DDR4 have the available date as the 29th. Makes sense as consumer DDR4 is useless without X99 right now. 10 days!

Wonder why there are no leaked overclocking figures. Could be a bad sign for overclocking? Considering the hype about DC and still cant hit 5ghz, not looking for too much from Haswell-E either. Seems like a very limited market for the 8 core at only 3ghz and $1000.00 if it doesnt overclock to at least 4+ ghz.
