Under embargo until: Augustus 29.
Why is the uncore so big? It looks bigger than a regular i7.
Not really sure. There should be on die RAS features for servers, but I'm having trouble thinking of much else.

Wow, $389 on the 5820K is a very good deal for users who run many threaded tasks. If this puppy overclocks to 4.6Ghz, it's lights out for 4790K for many users who keep their systems for 4-5 years. The 28 lanes is not much of a limitation since you can run PCIe 3.0 8x/8x/8x/4x. PCIe 3.0 at even 4x = PCIe 2.0 x8x which isn't much of a bottleneck:

You could easily do 3 and even 4 high end GPUs on the 5820k. Good to see Intel giving enthusiasts the 8-core offering at $1K which at least clearly separates itself as an Extreme series, instead of minor clock speed and cache bump. I have a feeling this X99 platform will become even more popular once BW-E drops and DDR4 pricing subsides to DDR3 levels.
Can't wait to see overclocking results on this lineup.

 Can't wait.
Too bad it releases on a Friday so I'll have to wait until the following week for delivery.
you getting the 8 core?
Yeah 8 core & X99 Deluxe from Asus. http://forums.anandtech.com/showpost.php?p=36651177&postcount=48

Does Haswell-E have FIVR too? I'm guessing yes.
Does Haswell-E have FIVR too? I'm guessing yes.
Absolutely. And so will Broadwell-E.
Intel's® 4th generation Core microprocessors are powered by Fully Integrated Voltage Regulators (FIVR). These 140 MHz multi-phase buck regulators are integrated into the 22nm processor die, and feature up to 80 MHz unity gain bandwidth, non-magnetic package trace inductors and on-die MIM capacitors. FIVRs are highly configurable, allowing them to power a wide range of products from 3W fanless tablets to 300W servers. FIVR helps enable 50% or more battery life improvements for mobile products and more than doubles the peak power available for burst workloads.
I stopped by the Micro Center local to me (Cincinnati) to see what they had. They have 4 motherboards at launch. The Asus X99 Deluxe, Gigabyte X99 Gaming G1 Wifi, ASRock X99 Extreme 4, and (I think, not too sure) ASRock X99 Extreme 6. Forgot to ask about pricing on the boards. I did, however, get pricing on memory. They have the 16GB Corsair Dominator DDR4 2800 for $499.99 and the 16GB Vengeance LPX DDR 2800 for $399. Cheaper than what's being sold on Newegg. No 32GB kits though There were lower spec memory listed, but I didn't bother looking at them.
They had the CPUs and motherboards in stock, but were waiting on the memory to come in. I hope they get them in by Friday. It would be kinda weird if they sold the CPU and motherboard without any memory for it.
I need to stop looking at images of that ASUS X99 Deluxe else I'm going to do something financially irresponsible and end up with an 8 core Haswell, X99 Deluxe, and some very expensive Dominators which I know will not feel any different from my current build.
Is the Dominator memory really worth it over Vengeance LPX? They have the same specs. I know it has a nicer heat spreader, but is that really needed at 1.2V for DDR4?
