Love fish and shellfish. Don't like lobster and shrimp, though my gf got me to eat a fried shrimp head the other night.

I love lobster claw, but I think lobster tail is overrated, always seemed bland to me.

If you're just going to start with a part, get some claw. If you don't want to take it straight, get it in a roll. A well done lobster claw roll should be awesome.

Fresh fish/sashimi/sushi is fuckin' awesome... cooked fish can be aight... unless too cooked then it's just plain nasty. Lobster is good... unless it's over cooked then it's really really yuck.

I don't really care for fish either, which is odd since I live along the Gulf of Mexico. I do love lobster though. Crabs are also awesome, and oysters and clams are pretty good. I've had scallops once and couldn't stand them.

I always liked the miso salmon @ cheesecake factory for chain restaurant fish (the sauce is a bit much though).

op should try some really nice sushi, poke, or seared ahi

I think shrimp is more consistent than lobster. Lobster has to be cooked just enough and eaten right away. Or else it get rubbery

A decent bit of mackerel has a significantly different taste and texture to most fish I've tried.

Decent mackerel needs to be chewed. Horrible mackerel is squishy.

I really must go to my nearest coastal town to get a non-titchy, fresh mackerel when it is back in season. I really miss it. Supermarkets in the UK sell a lot of titchy, not exactly premium grade mackerel.

As with most smoked fish, there ought to be a social warning on smoked mackerel. IMO, go for non-smoked.

Used to be a big lobster fan, but then somewhere I heard a comparison that lobsters were the oceanic equivalent of cockroaches. Now I can't get that out of my mind, and almost never order it.

But, its just like any food. You can get it made well or made poorly. I make a killer spicy crabbed-stuffed lobster tail, which I always thought was better than just a plain tail.

Lobster's pretty different from fish. In general, in Southern California, I always considered the Maine lobster we would have as a less tasty version of dungeness crab. Then I moved to New England and had lobster in Maine. it was AMAZING!

anyways, most likely the lobster you get in Cincy is going to be Maine lobster. It should be a little briney, and a little sweet. Doesn't really taste like fish.

My personal opinion is lobster is completely overrated. Its not bad, but the lobster itself has a really neutral flavor. People go on about how great it is, but its usually eaten soaked in butter and frankly a dog turd would probably taste alright soaked in butter. Its considered a high end food in our era but traditionally its been the giant bug that poor people ate because they couldn't afford anything else.

I think there's a good chance you'll like it well enough even if you don't care for fish. I just find it a lot of work and cost to eat a meat that actually compares to chicken in the end.

I recently started liking fish, but used to love shrimp and lobsters before that. My wife hates fish but likes shrimp. She doesn't like lobsters though.

Moral of the story, go try it yourself.

I'm going to be that guy. If you try lobster at Red Lobster and don't like it, you will still probably like fresh lobster. Also, make sure you get maine lobster and not rock lobster.

Sorry to be that guy but lobster does not freeze well and that is what you are getting at Red Lobster unless they have a tank and you overpay for a live one. Overpaying for a live one is better than eating a previously frozen tail.

OP I suggest you go to Red Lobster and eat a basket of Cheddar Bay Biscuits and order some Blackened Cajun Chicken Alfredo. I don't care what anyone has to say about Red Lobster, the biscuits are freaking delicious and they have some damn good chicken Alfredo.

That's so funny you say that. I LOVE their chicken alfredo AND their biscuits! And I do agree that it's about the best chicken alfredo ever, lol.

It's weird ordering it in a seafood restaurant though.

HA! me too! love that spicy chicken alfredo, yummmmm.

i've never had lobster or crab (pretty sure the crab in crab rangoons is imitation so i'm not counting that). no desire since i heard them called the cockroaches of the sea many years ago. i think at this point it's more a mental image that keeps me from eating it than anything else.

if lobster is the oceanic equivalent of cockroaches then chicken is the equivalent of eating dinosaur.

I don't care for fish but I love lobster, crab, shrimp, and crawfish. The only fish I can eat is fried catfish which is awesome.

Lobster has the same texture as alligator tail if I remember correctly. Have you ever tried that?

Lobster is what hobos used to eat so you should be good to try it.

It's interesting how trends change. 100+ years ago, lobster was considered food for the poor man. Now people don't mind paying $15/lb.

I personally don't like lobster. Anything smothered in butter is going to taste good and the taste on its own does nothing for me. I also am picky on what fish I like. But I love raw oysters.

surely cincinnati has a steakhouse where you can get a properly cooked lobster rather than going to red lobster and hoping they do it right. yes, it's going to be expensive.
