I have a hauppauge TV-tuner (model 401dbx) that always worked great. well, about a month ago, something peculiar happened when I moved back home from college... after watching any channel (from antenna), the sound cuts out thereby causing dscaler to freeze, but in wintv2000, the picture comes fine long after sound is gone. Now, I don't believe its the antenna outlet b/c it used to work fine before, this is a recent abnormality. However, if i end Dscaler or WinTV2000 after the sound cuts, and then restart the application again, the sound works for about the same time and then cuts out again. This keeps going until I get tired.
I made sure the line-out from the TV card goes to the correct line-in of the soundcard. No funny business in the volume control either. System says the sound card and TVcard both work great. I didn't update any drivers or applications regarding the hauppauge since it worked great and then it didn't work... no change in norton antivirus 2003 either (cuz it was installed before and the TV card worked fine).
Anyone had this problem and solved it...
or does anyone have any suggestions?
Some people under SnapStream PVS board (a TIVO like software) said that perhaps defragmenting the hard drive might help one deal with the problem, but not solve it (it increased his time before the sound cut off).
