Have Sempron 2400+ WHY cant i overclock the clock speed?

Okay AT tech geniuses, I need your experience:
I recently went from a XP2100+ to a Sempron 2400+ on my ABIT NF7-S V1.2 board, and now i cant overclock the clock speed like i was able to do on my XP2100+ ...what is up? Can you not overclock a Sempron? Can I only overclock FSB? I am currently running it at 10x166...and this is much slower than the performance i could get out of the 2100+. I have 1 gb of Ram that is 2700DDR. This is making me insane. Please help me. Thank you in advance,

Okay,
In the bios: When i turn the clock speed beyond 10x nothing changes, it still boots at 10x166
When I change the FSB beyond 166 it wont post when it boots.

PLEASE HELP ME!!! This is making me insane.
--> Yes, I have the latest bios. With this same bios i had no trouble at all overclocking my xp2100+ to 12.5 times...what is happening?

I have the same chip. I think the multi. is locked. FSB hits 210 easy on stock though. The S2400 is the XP2200's equal so I'd say you wasted your money.

the multi must be locked. Isn't an XP2100 => sempron 2400 a downgrade?

The only way for this dude to overclock is with ddr 3200 400mhz fsb
166 to 200 will give hima little boost but not as much boost from 133 to 166

I thought it was unlockable, but i guess not. I upgraded(or not) because i hooked up on a deal where the new mobo and cpu was free after rebate. I kept my existing mobo, sold the new one and my old cpu. Now, I wish i hadnt. That 2100+ overclocked like mad. I wrongly assumed the sempron would do the same. If anyone has suggestions for how to unlock this chip or speed it up i would greatly appreaciate it.

do you know what core it is? i looked on google, and there wasnt much, ill keep looking and post later.

Wow, thanks for your efforts. I havent looked at the link yet(i intend to after posting this) but regardless of the informations usefullness i want to thank you in advance for taking the time to help the less "tech-savvy" such as myself. I did not read what core it was prior to installing, howevevr i can check if it will help to resolve the dilemma. Your help is much appreciated and i will review the link right now. Jon
