It's been the bane of my existence for 20 years. I self-medicated with alcohol plus some meds for ages.

Now I discovered a combination of Trazadone and Lunesta - that can knock me out and keep me asleep for a good amount of time. No drinking at all.

Well well. I go weeks without sleep. Drowsiness is so rare. I got to a point I couldn't tell if Trazadone affected me anymore. I still took it.

But. At this point the only sleep prescription I'm on is orphenadrine/Norflex. Boosts GABA levels. Kills pain. Relaxes them muscles. 8 hours of calm.

Not sure I've got a magic bullet yet, sleep is elusive, but tryptophan + vitamins seems to be quite worthwhile. Little melatonin on the side. Nutrients - e.g. vitamins, minerals - are KEY when attempting to boost neurotransmitters.

I would just rather be awake at night and sleep during the day. No matter how tired I get when the sun goes down my energy level goes up. I am terrible at waking up in the morning though. I was on some SSRIs several years ago that allowed me to go to sleep at a decent time but still had problems waking up.

Would be nice to filter by insomnia type. The causes of sleep maintenance insomnia are very different from sleep onset insomnia.
