I've had quite a few of the glass chip claims-maybe one every other year. Several people at my insurer specifically told me they don't count as a claim. OP's post now makes me wonder.

No, there's no fee. Just as an aside, I submitted the information online and it spit back that they were unable to provide the information and that they would not tell me why. I was given the option to submit it by mail which I did. Since I was mailing in mine, I mailed in my wife's too. No fees for either. In my case the cost was two stamps.

Snail mail? uhh, no. Here's what I saw when I went to the "new members" section which of course I have to since I've never been to that site before,

"Billing and Payment
Unless other payment terms are agreed to by LexisNexis Risk Solutions, all charges for the personalreports.lexisnexis.com services, if applicable, including subscription services, purchased by you will be immediately charged to the credit card authorized by you. All charges are exclusive of local sales, use, personal property and similar taxes, which will be paid by you. We reserve the right to change the amount of, or basis for determining, any fees or charges for services we provide, including subscription services, and to institute new fees, charges, or terms effective upon notice to you."

Looks like they want you to subscribe and pay a "fee" and probably hope you forgot so it's a recurring one or make you jump through hoops to unsubscribe.

I don't work for an insurance company, but I have known for some time that any time you call your insurance company about a possible claim, they will make a note that is reflected as a claim. That goes for homeowners as well as auto insurance.

Basically, don't call your insurance unless you are actually planning on making a claim.
Yeah, I learned something in this case. I never have had much love for insurance companies and this didn't help in that regard one bit.

The Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACT Act) was enacted in 2003 and amends the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), a federal law that regulates, in part, who is permitted to access your consumer report information and how it can be used. The FACT Act entitles consumers to obtain one free copy of his/her consumer file from certain consumer reporting agencies during each 12-month period.

LexisNexis® Risk Solutions has a company that maintains consumer files that are subject to the free disclosure requirement: C.L.U.E. Inc. maintains information on insurance claims histories. This company designed an easy process for consumers to request their free file disclosure.

Remember that I don't know if it's affecting my rates or not. In this case I leased a much more expensive car than I ever had prior and my rates increased like I said, about 33%. I had stopped calling about what a new car would run me a long, long time ago because for a long, long time it never much mattered. It was all very affordable. I was shocked at this increase and that got me started with the research.

I don't know where your browser takes you when you click on that link but mine takes me to a site where there isn't even an option for "new members". In fact, in FF if I search for the word 'new', there are no matches found.

No, I am clearly wrong, I just saw the paragraph with "fee's" in it and mistakenly assumed there would be a charge, my bad..

Well.....that was uninteresting. So, good I guess.

I'm a good investment for insurance companies.
