Yes; which is why I limit myself usually to only drinking cider / lager when I'm out and only a few jager bombs / port. I'm not the nicest person / easiest to handle when I'm blacked out.

I was playing "catch up" because all my friends had been drinking for about 2 hours longer than I had so I was pounding drinks to match them. Problem was I never stopped that pace and went WAY past the mark. I remember being at the bar for about an hour and then I woke up on the trampoline in our back yard.

The other time I started pounding drinks at about 730pm and by 1130 there is just a huge blank spot. I was DJing at a bar that night and was so shithoused I don't remember the last hour at all. Bar closed at 1am and I remember going outside at about 1115pm to yak my brains out and then waking up at home.


Edit: Honorable mention for the time my friends and I think we were roofied. Drank a slightly above average amount of booze and woke up in the hallway of a hotel in my boxers. I was banging on someone's door and I came to with them yelling through the door that that wasn't my room and to go away.

Only once, was two new years ago. Friends and I were playing League of Legends and for every death for the entire team we took a sip. By our third game I was way knocked out.

I've been very drunk maybe three times in my life. Every single time I was absolutely miserable and since the last time, I've never had more than 3 drinks in an evening. Also, I don't buy alcohol anymore, most overrated, overpriced shit on the planet.

Being drunk sucks ass. I don't understand why people enjoy it.

Fortunately, I've never blacked out from being drunk. I've thrown up but not blacked out.

Now, at age 34, I can't bring myself to get drunk anymore. I'll slowly work myself up to a nice buzz and then level off. A couple hours before I plan on leaving the party I'll switch to water. The hangover isn't worth it.

Once in the Phillippines. Some guys told me how great this stuff called "mojo" was, so I bought a pitcher. Walking back to the table with it was literally the last thing I remember until waking up in my rack the next morning. Apparently I didn't do anything too crazy, but had to be dragged/carried back to the ship.

Had a guy across from me who slept on the top rack and at least two or three times on the deployment, fell out of his bed from being so drunk and cracked his head open on the same hatch bolt. Dude had some issues.

Then there was the time we found our division chief passed out at the bar of a club in Thailand. And the time we found our LPO wandering around lost on the base in Subic and had to help him back.

I've always wondered why so many people have that happen to them. I drank an entire fifth of jack daniels during a tailgate one time and barely had a hangover.

People who can drink to the point of blacking out probably have less sensitive stomachs.
I could never get to that point unless I was consuming alcohol by IV.
If I drink too much, I get dizzy, nauseous, and sometimes puke. I guess that means my body's defense mechanism is working as it should.

The worst I ever overconsumed was on prom night. I puked my guts out and felt like I was going to puke for the entire next day. Unfortunately, I remember it all very clearly.

Thanks to that night, I couldn't drink Tequila for about 20 years.

New Year's Eve 2012/2013 was the only time. It was the final hour or so and then going to bed. And, though I blacked out, I apparently was fine and did all of the normal things I would have done going to bed, including brush my teeth and the like. It also marks the first time I've had a legit, seriously unpleasant hangover.

Closest was bachelors party. Wasn't full on blacked out. But there were pieces that were a bit fuzzy.

I remember dinner, then going to a lesbian bar with our very own Fausto. Drinking my body weight in Jim Beam & cokes and then the night got much fuzzier. I remember getting into the parking lot at a strip club. Remember sort of sitting in a chair half dazed. Then remember parts of the cab ride home and everyone thinking I was going to hork in the front seat of the cab. Then my wife drunk dialed us at 3:00AM when we got back to the hotel (she had her bachelorette party the same weekend) and then puking. Then somehow we were able to scrape ourselves together at 8:00AM and catch our flight home. That hurt. A lot. Amazingly we held everything together and didn't need to use puke bags on the flight back.

FYI to those considering a destination bachelor/bachelorette party...DO NOT DRINK YOURSELF RETARDED AND EXPECT TO BE FUNCTIONAL FOR AN 8:00AM FLIGHT.

You can blackout without throwing up OP. Yes, I have done it many many many times. But I know I have an alcohol problem, so I just don't drink anymore. Coming up on 2 years soon.

Yep. I've only thrown up from drinking a couple times and I rarely drink enough to get hung over but I start losing memory after a few drinks.

Define "blacked out". Drinking to the point of passing out? Or not being able to remember things the next day?

In the case of the latter, I've seen people perfectly coherent - drunk, but coherent - who remember little of what happened the next day. I've seen people who leave a bar at 2AM, go out to breakfast at an all-night diner and get home with a smile on their faces at 4AM, and remember nothing past midnight. Their memories can be jogged if you tell them bits and pieces of what happened, and often it gradually comes back to them over the course of a few days.

And I've seen people drink to passing out - right on the bar, or to where they had to be carried to a tax or to bed - who remember ever moment of the evening.

The mind is a funny thing.

Just about a month ago. Went to a beer tasting there were 6 of us with about 20 750ml bottled of 8+% beer, then 2 of us dove into the 750 of 19% Viking Blod. I do not remember leaving the tasting or the drive home, or the rest of the night. Wife said I was up and talking like a normal day. The next day I felt fine as rain.
