That didn't work for me, and I was 2 blocks from my house. I learned a lot about the DUI industry that night.
Edit: And the industry is trying to make it more lucrative by lowering the legal limit to .5. Legislation being debated right now.
I believe you mean .05.

Never been arrested but I got put in the back of a cop car when I was pulled over for having a suspended license. Cop was an asshole and searched my car, kept asking me if I had any weapons in there.

They ended up impounding my car and I had to pay like $1400 to get it the next day, funny thing was they didn't even check to see if I came with anyone when I came to pick it up, could have shown up and driven it home on a suspended license.

Was arrested and released on signature bond for underage drinking when I was 19yo. Paid a fine and did a few hours of community service.
_______________________________
Arrested for felony posession and distribution of THC when I was 18. $500 bail.
A bunch of friends and I in a 3-car caravan got stopped driving out of a park after closing hours.

Everyone stashed their herb under the seats as we saw the cop pull out behind us, and I ended up (willfully) taking ownership of ALL of it when they searched my vehicle. Pretrial, the DA dropped it to misdemeanor possession. Fines and community service, required AODA and 6mo lic. suspension. Only spent that first night that I was arrested in county.
______________________________
Arrested again for possession of THC at 21. $1500 bail + signature bond.
Pulled over for speeding on NYE, heading between cities to meet friends for the new year.

Had a wooden dug-out with a one-hitter in my center console in my car (had no idea it was there, never found out after the fact who had left it there). Cops scraped the one-hitter and got .03 grams (three-hundredths, yeah not a typo) of matter field-tested positive for THC. TBH idk how they weighed it, especially on the roadside.

Felony charge because it was second offense. For .03 grams.

Was about to go to trial and the prosecuting attorney offered to drop the felony if I served 20 days in county and 2 years probation (and of course $3K in fines and more community service, AODA, lic. suspension for 6 months). It was worth taking the sentence to not risk the felony if I went to trial.

The key to that offer was that there was no longer any evidence for the DA to present other than officer testimony, it was all consumed in the field test.

Also, I had expressly refused permission to search my vehicle when the officer asked, and I'm pretty sure they had that recorded from his dashcam. He threatened to hold me there and bring a K-9 unit if I didn't cooperate. I didn't think I had anything to worry about and was in a hurry to reach my destination, being that it was 11:15PM on NYE, so I relented to the search and asked him to hurry. When he backed out of my car, holding the dugout and asking, "What's this?", my heart just sank.

Being pulled over for speeding was not a justifiable reason for vehicle search without other circumstances present (like smell of cannabis, obvious intoxication, etc), so I believe the intimidation by the officer hurt the DA's case there.

Our state laws on THC have not loosened or changed for the better since then, and yet I've known people with 5 to 6+ DUI convictions that still have their license, never served more than 10 days, etc. That's WI for ya.

I've gotten a fine for biking on the pavement.
I got several verbal warnings/scoldings for riding on sidewalks, but never fined for it. However...I was chased through parts of a university campus by police numerous times and never caught/stopped.

Working in bike shops, I knew or met others who had gotten 'pulled over' on their bikes and ticketed for speeding. That was kind of a laughable one that generated "congrats" among the cyclist's crowd, lol.

It was when I was in highschool and the bike lane was blocked by road work, so I had to bike like 40m on the pavement before returning to the bike lane. Granted there were three signs stating that I should get off my bike. But sometimes the police do bike razzias, so this morning they pulled all students biking to high school and gave them a fine. At least I students rebate of 50% so it was something like 200DKK ~$30

Yeah that's what we'd call a forced citation trap here. Even if the fine wasn't much, it's still bullshit that they target and prey on that little section that they know damn well people will have to go through due to construction work.

Especially targeting HS students. Shitty of the police to do that for a bit of revenue. At least vehicle speed traps here usually target known problem areas where people are more likely to speed. Targeting cyclists for using a forced 40 meter detour though...that's low IMO.

For approx 30 years I started work at 2:00 am, only lived about 15 minutes from work. At least once a week I would see someone drive like they had a couple too many. Would get pulled over 2 - 3 times a year. Roll down the driver window, put my hands on the door making sure they were comfortable when they came up. Where you going, work, where do you work, XXXX, are you on parole or probation, never been arrested. Thought he was going to hurt his neck he turned so quick like everyone has been arrested before. Ran everything, came back and said slow down next time. Doing 30 in a 25.

That sucks brother. Got real close one time, the cop fortunately just saw the pot pipe, and not the white stuff on the mirror. He just said, I better not see that again (just saw the pipe fortunately) Hampton Beach.

Unless you're in a school zone, getting pulled over for only 5 over the limit is a bored cop.

Nope. I got pulled over for 20+ over once late at night and had to do the whole DUI test thing because the cop smelled liquor (it was my friend in the passenger seat). Let me go with no ticket after I passed.

Yep, twice for the same warrant. (unpaid tickets when I was in my early 20's - young, dumb, and broke). I was taken to jail the first time, paid all the tickets, got everything taken care of. Two years later, taken to jail for the same warrant. In court, the judge asked why I was there, as the warrant was taken care of two years prior, they just forgot remove it from the system. I was pissed to say the least. However, the story of getting arrested the second time was comical. It was 4th of july, just finished hanging out with some friends, where we played the game true colors. (it's a game that askes questions, or who was likely to do something, and you voted who most likelly applied too). The last question was: "who, out of this group of people, would use their one free phone call from jail, to order Chinese food?" I won that one. An hour later, as I was taking one of our buddies home, a cop ran my plates and I was pulled over and arrested because of the old warrant that was never removed. So, my one free phone call, I called my buddy up, who's house I left and ordered chinese food.. We got a good laugh, , then asked them to come bail me out.. LOL (money was in my wallet to pay them back).

Attempted arson when I was 15.

Possession of alcohol by a minor two weeks before my 21st birthday. I was 21 by the time I had to appear in court...

I've walked away from several events that I should have been arrested for. One time I was so drunk I fell against the officer and grabbed the front of his shirt to keep from falling down, he let me drive home after a warning. Another time on the same road I was pulled over for speeding. The officer said since I didn't have any contraband in my truck I was free to go. As he made that statement his flashlight shined on the open bottle of vodka on my seat, then the half joint in my ashtray. This was back in the 80's when people went to jail for any amount of weed.

It pay's to be charming.

Imagine if you were black?

Oh wait. There's no racism. I forgot. My bad!

At that time and in that area I would have almost certainly gone to jail had I been black, as would have every white person in the same situation.
I don't know why the police let me walk, though in both situations I never tried to deny my guilt or the foolishness of my actions. I was absolutely honest and forthright with the officers and said nothing to try and mitigate my crimes. I did everything an attorney would tell you not to do.
If I had to guess, I'd say in the event where I was drunk I think the officer didn't want to go through having me puke in his car during the half hour ride to the police station. It's the only thing that makes sense.

Nope, had quite a few interactions with the cops, but never made it as far as being detained, let alone arrested.

Not planning it in the future, but don't ever do the walk. I know someone who blew legal, but was charged due to being clumsy.

I've had the opposite actually, was forced to do the walk and failed and then given the breathalyzer and passed it. I was pretty nervous because I had drank some earlier in the night but this was like 5-6 hours after that. The cop was weirdly nervous about the whole thing, called a guy for backup and the guy had his hand on his gun the whole time.

After I passed the breathalyzer the cop that pulled me over went to his car to fill out the ticket (I was pulled over for an expired plate), and when he came back he said he had had to take a few minutes to calm himself down. Was a really weird thing to say because I wasn't being combative at all, people who can't even handle a simple traffic stop definitely shouldn't be cops.

The interesting thing about the video in the OP is that the audience applauds the fact that most of the candidates have been arrested. Like they are proud that their possibly representatives have a criminal record. As this thread points out, having been arrested is not necessarily bad, but it is not something to applaud either, especially when you don't know what for or what the outcome was.

As for me, I've never been arrested, I've never even had a speeding ticket (because I almost never speed). I've been pulled over a number of times for other reasons, but I have never actually been issued a ticket. Now my wife? She can't pull out of the garage at under 75 mph.
