Nope. Never even got a ticket. For a lower east side Manhattan male, that's pretty amazing. And I've done shit in my 57 years of life that are arrestable offenses. I did get risked once when I was 16. I jumped over a short fence to cut through a park that was a shortcut to my apt. 2 undercovers asked why and I said I live down the block. They risked me and I had 2 dime bags of weed on me with a bunch of penny canidies and when he pulled it all out I could spot the bag but all he saw was candy. He put the candy and weed back in my pocket and said I could go.

The thing is, dime bags of weed in 1982 were pretty big. Thankfully it was dark and the cop was an idiot.

no, but arrests seem rather arbitrary these days.

It is just likely a matter of time. I suspect I will be a DIC to, all I have to do is miss my meds twice. I find the whole idea terrifying.

I have been pulled over half a dozen times. 3 were legitimate and I got ticketed.

Once for running a red light. I was in an unfamiliar part of town & needed to be over a lane coming up to light, while moving over the light went from green to yellow and I didn’t think I could stop in time. Went red as I went through and got pulled over.

Second ticket was for making an illegal left turn out of parking lot. I had seen dozens of cars make that turn. What I hadn’t seen was the no left turn sign buried in a tree to the right of the turn.

Last ticket was for doing 55 in a 45. Had to leave work to meet the principal because my son was having issues. Wasn’t paying attention on the way back.

One time my wife and I both got pulled over for doing 35 in a 20mph school zone. They placed a little school zone sign next to a bunch of advertisements next to a gas station. Past that sign was an intersection with a green light and a big school zone sign with the flashing lights. We slowed down for that one but the cop pulled us both over. He talked to my wife first and then came to me. Did a double take when he looked at my license. “Are you following her?” Almost said “did the same address and last name give it away”. Instead I told him we were dropping the car off a the garage down the street and my wife was going to drive me back.

He decided he couldn’t give us both tickets. So he let us go. On the way back home we passed him and he’d pulled over 3 more cars.

The last three were all cops pulling me over on pretense. The Evil Halliburton who I worked for fresh out of college sent to a plant in Arkansas for 3 months on a days notice. I’d drive 5 hours early Monday morning to get to work by 7:00. Work 4 10’s and head home Thursday night.

Three Mondays mornings in a row I got pulled over. Twice for driving 60 in a 55 which was BS as I knew exactly where all the speed zones were for each little town and once because he thought I was falling asleep. My car was being buffeted by 30mph cross winds that night. Each time they asked me why I was out so late/early, where I was going, and then ran my plates. Then they let me go. Totally fishing for revenue. I guess they let me go because A. they knew I hadn’t done anything, B. I was dressed like an engineer, C. there were no warrants and nothing wrong with the car and D. I was the white color.

Ohman… I was born in 1959. So yes, a few times. Young, feeling entitled, dumb, and totally different social mores during those times. I'm not trying to say that as an excuse.

This phone is dying so I'll probably expand on that later.

Here’s another one. Got arrested for trying to shoot a neighbor with a BB gun From across a street.

The neighbor was what could be termed “white trash”, although we were unaware of his reputation when we bought our house.

He essentially harassed everyone surrounding him…blasting loud music at 3am on a week night, that sort of thing

Well, I have bird feeders and use sunflower chips in a couple (goldfinches love them). I would use an old pump BB gun to scare away the squirrels, not to kill.

Another neighbor from across street came over one day asking how the gun worked, accuracy, cost, etc. as he was having similar squirrel problems.

So I proceeded to show him how it worked, how it loaded, etc. This is in my front yard and gun unloaded entire time. Any time it was dry fired, it was pointed at the ground.

Then the cops showed up…four cars and they hop out with guns drawn on me. Seems the asshole neighbor called the police saying I was trying to shoot them, their kids and their dog.

Handcuffed and taken to jail. Got to inprocessing and the cops were acting quite peculiarly…like I was their long lost friend. While I did get photos and printed, they apologized profusely the whole time.

I even got a tour of the courtroom and all. Get released on property bond. But my arresting cop sssid on court day, make sure I had enuf cash in pocket to pay fine if found guilty. That turned out to be an interesting comment

So court day shows up. I’m representing myself…the truth shall set you free and all. My “opponents” did the same…all 13 of them. My wife and myself on one side of the courtroom, and a bunch of screaming monkeys on the other.

Frankly, I was petrified. I’d really never been to court where my $$ and freedom were at stake. My focus was entirely on the judge and clerk.

I was asked about the incident six different ways with the same answers from me. Judge did same for other side, but instead of a single coherent narrative being offered, their story changed…and changed…and changed.

Got so bad their kids were offering details of things that never happened, annd offering commentary quite loudly from the spectator’s benches. Embellishment abounded from those cretins. And they were so loud doing this the judge almost threw them out the courtroom.

We’re now about 30 minutes into this and while I was still laser focused on the judge, his questions, my wife observed the number of police officers there to witness the trial kept increasing. I was frankly oblivious to this.

There were three at first—bailiff, two arresting officers. 30 min later and there were over a dozen cops lining a wall, snickering and trying to hide outright laughter. Do remember judge “admonishing “ them to be quiet.

Understand…my little town of 4500 people could barely field 5 city patrol officers on day shift. Wife told me that by the end, there was a statue, several sheriff deputies in attendance.

Cut to the chase, judge finds me not guilty. And his next breath found the idiots, of whom the grandmother was taking full responsibility, guilty of filing false police reports, harassment of us, and a couple other things.

We stuck around only long enough to hear the screaming from granny at the judge (never a smart idea) that this was a major miscarriage of justice and such.

Judge asked her if she had the $957 fine he was imposing on her. Defiant, she said no. The screaming got louder when the judge said he’d put her on a payment plan via 6 months probation.

We quickly exited…didn’t want the judge see us laughing. My wife Debbie said all the cops were, tho.

Got home and the neighbors already knew what happened…grapevine and all.

Idiots moved out two months later and took a bath on their house. He’ll, I even put in an offer just to dig at them a little more.

Neighborhood got much quieter after that…no drama to speak of, cops would wave at us if drove by and saw us outside.

Well, 66.7% of republican candidates for the US House in one Colorado district have been arrested at some point.

Republicans are such fine, upstanding, ethical people...
Arrested or "detained"?

I've been pulled over but when they saw my shield, and found out my mom was a cop during a records check, they backed off.

Then again, that was back in the day, in California.

Arrested.

Being stopped for a traffic or vehicle/registration violation is being detained. Where you are not free to leave until LEO says so...

I've been "detained" on the side of the road multiple times... as I was a road warrior for many years, driving 50K plus miles a year, so the odds were I might run afoul of someone needing to fill his ticket quota. Will admit that there were all legit stops.

Some resulted in tickets, some in warnings, and some a stern talking to...

Once I got a firefighter tag, (I was a volunteer firefighter) when the state first offered them, I'm seen a LEO flip around to probably pull me, but once they say the tag, they didn't even bother.

Did some time for armed robbery at 13. Got the fuck out of that lifestyle at 16 just before my closest friend started moving weight across the Mexican border, got caught, and had to do 3-4 years. Never as an adult and never planning to.
