They've always been a lot more conservative than my preference. But it was amongst one of the forums I came through when getting into computer stuff.
For years they were very heavy-handed on curse words. Then out of nowhere they decided it would be acceptable. So, I let it fly. Fuck it, right?
I don't remember how long that change in rules lasted. Few weeks? Few months?
Then out of nowhere they decided to start moderating curse words again.
Visited the forum one day to find myself banned with a PM noting several posts in many threads where I said "fuck" and that they are banning me for it.
It was amusing because there was an ongoing thread on first page at the time with blatant use of the word "fuck" in the thread title.

Horrorcore.com was a bit more wild & acceptable on colorful language & material. I was going through a tough time with my relationship at the time & decided to take it out on the forum.
I rezzed 5 pages worth of dead threads. They got the ban in before I got to 6 pages.
I went back under a new alias a year later.

I got an infraction here for "Posting in the wrong forum" when I posted in FS/FT with a perfectly good, perfectly serious product that I actually sold on Craigslist for more money later that same day. I did take a crack at overly-paranoid people who may want it (my own potential customers), but the product itself was not a joke. A moderator thought it was a joke and, therefore, thought it belonged in OT. That mod is no longer a moderator but the infraction remains front and center on my profile page.

Banning...and to a certain extent "infractions" on some forums is a joke. Not only do mods and admins in most of the forums I`ve been part of place themselves in some higher regard than everyone else, reasoning is not possible and it`s a "their word is law." It`s pretty rediculous. The fact that you can`t "call out a mod..." Gotta love dictatorship.

That said, I`ve only had one infraction on another forum for stupid reasons. Half the crap that goes on stays, and most things almost seem targeted.

TBH, if this were some research forum or college, or what have you, I`d be more inclined to take things seriously, but it`s a general forum that covers just about anything and everything and should NOT be taken seriously.

If you want to cut down on bs and make a more serious forum, get better authentication in place for new joins. Make them be a certain age...profession...etc. Limit them to certain subforums.

(in a rude way) in a "which books are you reading" thread. I didnt intend to troll really but in retrospect I suppose its obvious trolling. I have no idea why I did that either, I think I just had a bad day at work.

edit: and it got me all fired up too, pretty hilarious that I allowed myself to get fired up by a stupid forum vacation. so kudos to you, mod who vaca'd me.

I got vacationed here once for a satirical post that was misinterpreted as serious by a mod (to his credit, he sorted everything out and unbanned me later the same day after a brief conversation). I also have an infraction for a tasteless joke about Kristallnacht, because apparently the holocaust is still considered "not very funny" by basically everyone. I was also banned from a gaming forum back in the day for I don't know what; I set up the account, never posted, tried logging in a few months down the road and it told me the account had been banned. Probably flagged as a spam account since it never had any activity.

Honestly, I try to be fairly politic when posting on forums, especially forums I don't want to be banned from. I'll write something, and if it seems a touch incendiary, I'll generally delete it. There have been some nights where I'll post drunk and be flabbergasted that I haven't been banned the next morning, and I've made some jokes that could easily have resulted in infractions (as mentioned above).... Meh, it is what it is. Offending the mods is just my way of reminding them of their basic humanity, a lesson all of us should take from time to time.
