have you ever eaten a meal that was really worth over $15?

I took my wife out to the Rainforest Cafe last night and got two meals and two smoothies. Total was over $40. The food was definately not worth the price, although the place itself was pretty cool. I started thinking about it, and I don't think I've ever really eaten a meal that was worth over $10 or $15. I think maybe $12 was the max. How about you? And say where if you have...

yep

sure as hell not at the rainforest cafe though

just recently i paid 15 for a sushi buffet that was awesome. same stuff would have cost me 50+ at a normal restaurant

if you go to a nice steak restaurant and get a big expensive cut, the meat is worth the price alone

A good steak is definitely worth over $15.

Some package deals at local restaurants (drink, salad, entree, coffee, and desert) all for $9.99 are all worth over $15 (in both satisfaction and actual "cost).

Oh yes...get into the expensive meals ($100+) and if it's done right it's like nothing you've had before. Of course the average meal around here is $15-20 and I don't feel most of those are worth it.

Yeah, I can understand that. But my plate alone was like $14.99. I was pretty disappointed. It was a fun place, and would have been more fun if the food had been better.

I'm not a big steak guy, either. I like it occasionally though. Honestly, I think the best steak I've ever had was at Friendlies with their steak-and-eggs breakfast lol

dude, of course

my friend owns a fine dining restaurant and is also the head chef.

we don't go often, but the meal is usually over $150 for two of us, including a couple bottles of wine. mind you, this meal is spaced out over at least two hours. it's almost as much about the ambience and atmosphere of the restaurant, and the friends we go with.

last time i went i had veal tenderloin and it was the best cut of meat i've ever had.

I guess it's all really about how much you enjoy that certain meal and how much you'd be willing to pay to have it again?

In my opinion, I probably wouldn't ever be able to justify spending more than $40 on one sitting for one person. On any given night, my idea of the perfect meal-to-price experience would probably be a steak dinner at Fridays.

I think the $2.99 specials at IHOP are just fine.

It's pointless, IMO, to buy a $40 meal unless you are a) trying to impress someone (a client or something) or b) filthy fvcking rich. I spent $45 at the grocery store the other day getting enough food for about 30 meals and still cringed at having to spend that paper, though. Maybe I'm just a frugal bastard.

What do you expect from some crappy mall restaurant?
Of course I've eaten many meals that were worth more than $15.

Honestly, sometimes I really don't understand you people when it comes to food.

i was not impressed with the rainforest cafe at all. mediocre food thats all. I have had a few meals that were worth well over 15$. Most of them being at a Roy's Grill and bar Restaurant.

I love food, and will try almost anything so i have had good meals for 4$ and good meals for 74$.

So give me a list of ridiculously priced restaurants, maybe I'll try one one of these days.

Red Lobster's Blackened Chicken Alfredo costs only $9.99 for a FULL plate. I'd pay $15 for it. It's that good.

heh, no list here. that's the only place i would visit to drop that kind of cash because i want to see my friend do well.

seriously though, in time you will no doubt see the value of a full-out bling bling dinner. they don't call it fine dining for nothin'!

eating is one of the most primal and enjoyable activities known to man. its one of the few things i dont mind spending my hard earned money on. a delicious meal is just mind-blowingly satisfying

I know, I'm serious - tell me some restaurant names, I'll try one. I got hooked up on that Citibank cashback credit card about a year ago and started paying all my bills using it, so I use the rewards checks for date nights with my wife

Well, take the context. Most of us are geeks that spend most of our time in front of computers and live off junk food, pizza, and cereal. I don't think I had ever been to a super-nice restaurant until I started dating my wife LOL.

Dude...I love IHOP. Honestly, I think the food there is great. Maybe it's just because I grew up on mostly fast food type of restaurants

I've eaten at several Steakhouses where the food was worth over $15 (actually). After all, I prefer T-Bone steak and Porterhouses and the like.

And don't complain about $40 ... I paid nearly $70 for dinner for 2 at SkyCafe...

I eat at places all the time that the food is worth 15 or more. Set your sights higher than fast food, its not too hard to find
