Holy christ. If I ever went out with a woman and spent $300 I better be getting anal and a brazilian.
 you want her to strap one on?!?!

Dude. You know what I mean.

But that also begs one of my favorite questions: Think of the woman you most would like to have sex with. Would you let her do you with a strap on in order to get the chance to bang her?

Yup. We went to a steakhouse where we knew one of the cooks. Ordered a small prime rib. Ended up with a very large appitizer, 3" thick slice of prime rib (no, I am not exaggerating, it stood up on end), and dessert.

There was leftovers.

Life would be alot easier if everything was just ground up and given to us as tablets with the same satisfaction as a meal. So much money saved!

Rainforest Cafe, Ponderosa, Applebees, Perkins, IHOP, etc.
They're all basically the same crappy quality food with different themes decorating the walls... some are more decorated than the others. And the price of their food increases with the number of words they use in the title of the meal on the menu.

"Sirloin steak" = 9.99
"chef's ultimate 10 ounce succulent sirloin on a pilaffe of rice" for the exact same steak = 14.99

Simply put though, there's no way a chain restaurant can serve "great" food and have consistency across the chain.
And, because of desired uniformity, there's no way they can even serve certain meals.

Go to a really good restaurant once. (Red Lobster ranks right down there with the rest of the crap. It's not a good restaurant.)

Imagine sitting down with a party of 4.
First, your bottle of wine arrives, and a FRESH loaf of Italian bread. (not fresh as in "made this morning", but fresh as in "it's still warm from the oven"
And the salad... no iceberg crap in the salad... REAL homemade dressings, imported vinaigrettes, etc. The salad contains sun ripened tomatoes (not crappy flavorless greenhouse tomatoes) and at least 4 or 5 types of greens (romaine, etc. Again, no iceberg lettuce.)
Hors'd'oevres such as escargot, stuffed mushroom caps (stuffed with crab meat, not breadcrumbs)
And the soup. Homemade, of course; never the stuff from the 1 gallon cans that they crack open in the kitchen. The food doesn't arrive too closely together, but not too spaced out either. Just a nice relaxed pace. Wonderful conversation at the table.
Then the main course - something you will NEVER find in any chain restaurant.
Dessert, again, all homemade.
Owner of the nice Italian restaurant comes over and brings everyone a shot of sambuca to "cleanse the pallet"

Ultimately, your party of 4 is at the restaurant, enjoying themselves for 2 to 3 hours. Every morsel of food was cooked perfectly. Service was exceptional.
As frugal as I am, I still don't mind paying $300 for that meal.

I don't go there but maybe once or twice a year, but I think that the Olive Garden's dinners are worth the $15+. You get tons of bread and salad (good salad, too) if you want it and a giant plate full of pasta.

Good meal.

STAY AWAY FROM MALL FOOD.
But if you must, then try PF Chang's, The Cheesecake Factory, or Outback.

Seriously, what is your zipcode?

I'd much rather sit at home with the same people, having the same conversation, over tasty espresso/cappuccino I made myself, and then have something warm and delicious from my own oven.

That sounds good but it's also nice to go out and have someone else do the cooking, serving and the cleanup.

Depends on the diner I suppose...some people just don't know what a good chef is truly capable and how much effort goes into a seemingly simple dish. I've had plenty of meals that fully warranted their cost...though, not many lately.

Lawry's prime rib is definitely worth more than $15. And yes, Rainforest Cafe sucks big time. Especially with all the damn kids everywhere. God I hate that place.

I had started a thread awhile back asking whether people preferred to try new restaurants or stick with the ones they know, and IIRC, the poll was pretty even. Some people just don't want change, and would rather continue eating at Chili's or any other chain restaurant.

Nothing wrong with that, but I do think they're missing out.

Ate a meal that was over $15 and felt like it was worth that price...

Sushi is my very favorite food, so if I have even one piece of yellowtail sashimi in that meal, I'll be happy for days.
Red Lobster
Black Angus

Those are the ones off the top of my head where I don't feel ripped off, and continue coming back.
