Have you ever found a gun?

I haven't, but I've found maybe 1/2 dozen bullets on the streets of my town. Yeah, I'm not a collector, but I saved those, just because.

I found a pair of handcuffs on the street a few years ago, took them home. Have no idea how they got there. Totally professional, I think. Like what cops would carry. So, what did I do? I ordered handcuff keys! Now I'm prepared to handcuff someone.

What would you do if you found a gun?

I found a couple rifles next the RoW fence on I895. They were rusted up junk, and I left them there. I was actually thinking about them a couple days ago, and considering researching if there were any car shootings there some time in the past. I don't think I'm motivated to put the time in though.

I found a 20 gauge shotgun once when I was younger and that was it. It was weird though because it didn't have a stock. Instead someone turned the stock into a pistol style grip. Not a good combo on a shotgun which is why it was most likely abandoned.

A guy I used to work with owned a house outside of Sonora, CA. He had an old oak tree in his front yard that had grown around a VERY OLD Winchester carbine. Probably left there over 100 years ago...maybe longer.

I don't think I ever found anything quite that interesting just lying around, but I have won some pretty cool prizes from raffles. At one of previous jobs, I won a 860 Evo 1TB at the company parties, as well as some cash. At that time the SSD was worth about $140 I believe.

That reminds me, at the same job, I would occasionally get to take home cool computer stuff if I wanted, from the old salvage / spare parts collection we had. Cool stuff I got included RAM, an X58 motherboard, and a Lenovo laptop.

I found a gun. It was an old Czech 8mm Mauser. It was left propped up on a big rock at a local quarry where everyone went to shoot. I redid the stock finish and re-blued everything and eventually sold it for maybe $80. They used to sell them all over for like $20 or so my dad said. IIRC it did shoot very well and it kicked like a mule as it had a steel stock cap.

Never found a gun but I have found bullets, spent and sometimes even unspent. Usually shot gun shells in the woods left by hunters. Nothing too exciting. If I see a bunch in one spot it's like "wow someone had fun". I think proper etiquette when hunting is to pick those up when done but guess not everyone bothers.

I found a gun on my way to work. I just left it there because it was probably used in drug/gang violence and I didn't want to wait for hours to deal with the police - if they ever show up.

Personally no but pistols would turn up a half dozen times a year or so at our stores. More often than not it was a cop who lost theirs. Usually in the bathroom.
I knew they shot bricks frequently, shitting guns is definitely new.

I found camouflaged binoculars on the lot my BIL and I were clearing. Funny thing we were looking for his lost Copenhagen can and I couldn't find it despite it having a silver cap.

Nope. Would be pretty unlikely to happen, I think.

I found a sharpened screwdriver once. Picked it up 'cos I thought a screwdriver is always useful, but when I later tried to use it found it wasn't very usable as the end had been sharpened to a kind of 'blade'.

Probably fortunate that wasn't one of the occasions I got stopped and searched by the police (which has happened a few times in my life).

I've adapted tools and a sharpened screwdriver would have legitimate usage in a workshop. Just take it to a grinder being careful to not let the tip get hot enough to draw the temper. That would require very frequent dunking in a can of cold water. You can also dress up the blade of a screwdriver that way.

I don't really know, just kind-of assumed someone had sharpened it as a makeshift weapon (perhaps with the bonus of hoping to be able to pass it off as just a work-related tool if stopped by the police - the laws against carrying "offensive weapons" are pretty strict here). Not terribly exciting, compared to finding a gun, but it's all I can offer!

A sharpened screwdriver could serve as a chisel or pick. The host of items that humans have used as weapons would seem to be inexhaustible, alas.

In the early 60s (yes, I am old) I found a small box of .22LR on my way home from grammar school. Told no one. Kept them until I was in high school. Then a chum and I went to a local sporting goods store that had a range in the basement. Rented a rifle and used the box. This was in Chicago. Very hard to own a gun there now. And I bet there are no basement gun ranges anymore.

I don't recall firing a gun other than at age maybe 11-12 on Catalina Island, in the Boy Scouts. They handed us rifles (probably 22's), we lay prone outdoors and shot at targets. I intuitively understood what was necessary to be accurate.

I found a porno mag in the woods behind a cabin my family was renting.
I hope you didn't touch it. Pretty unsanitary if you did. Someone's printed porno should only be handled with safety gloves, then the gloves should be burnt, along with the porno mag.
